Fml. I told myself I wouldn't cave to the next gen. My main gripes are as follows
Graphics - Are the ray tracing, graphical fidelity type of upgrades even really big for non biased purists? I see videos of side by sides and the guy is always like " the difference is huge" and it's really not. The jump from PS2 to PS3 was like being reborn. I haven't seen that woah moment yet.
Games - So i'm buying the xbox for 3 games. NFS unbound (mid reviews), flight simulator (epic reviews but possible learning curve) and Forza 8 (goes without saying) is their anything else not on previous gen worth waiting for?
I prefer dualsense and PS5 is the sexier and better UI console. But aside from ratchet all its big games like spiderman I happily have on PS4 pro.
Did I make a good decision? I always get like this after I spend decent money on electronics. I type this on a 4 year old phone. I tend to like to stick with what I know and the electronics can be loyal.
Was buying series X worth it for you?

This generation is only starting, think about games from early PS4 vs nowadays. I think they haven't even begun using the power of these systems bc most games are still coming out on last gen. I bought the Xbox Series X bc of the studios Microsoft bought and what they produce. Arkane studios doing games like Redfall, Bethesda making Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 eventually, Tango Gameworks, and more.
The Series X hasn't been worth it yet but I will be keeping it for years to come. So in 5 years, 10 years whatever it will have a ton of games I'm still trying to catch up on or play again. We are just in this awkward between phase bc of the pandemic delaying games and chip shortages preventing people from getting their hands on the systems. In a year or 2 when all the games are exclusively current gen your PS4 won't cut it.
