So I'm not sure if this is the right sub reddit for this but I've been interested in turning a console into a hand held console recently and I've watched a lot of videos of people turning consoles into hand held consoles but I know that I don't have the skill or knowledge on how to make a console into a hand held console so I was wondering if anyone knew what I should do to start doing that

I'd say start with a raspberry pi kit to begin learning some of the low level basics.
There is kits for handheld raspberry pi consoles, try assembling one first and go from there.
