As a n00b Skyrim lover - will I enjoy games on the Xbox Series S?

Hey guys!! I've never been a huge gamer, but after playing Skyrim for a sold 2 years on my switch I have absolutely fallen in love. Previously I was into Breath of the Wild which was cool but kind of easy - then came Skyrim. Omg the fighting mechanics alone are so satisfying and I love the open world concept and beauty of the game.

Now that I've done all the main /main side quests, I'm itching to play another satisfying game. I downloaded dark souls and honestly.. sucked at it and found it to be a bit too hard. There's not a whole lot of Skyrim-esque games on the switch so I'm considering investing in a Xbox Series S. Games like Middle Earth Shadow of War/Mordor and Dragon Age inquisition stand out to me as games I'd like to try out.

All that to say - do you think anything can bring the same love and satisfaction as Skyrim; and do you think there's enough similar style games on the Xbox series S to be worth it to make that big of a purchase? Game recommendations? Thanks everyone xx

I own all the darksouls... and never finished a single one.... and sucked at them too. lol

I really only Enjoyed elden ring.

If you can Skyrim through backwards compatibility on xbox, it should be pretty sweet.
Or I suppose if there is some kind of upgraded version from the previous gen like xbox one... that runs on the newer hardware.

Its a pretty solid vanilla experience. (not a bad thing either)

Maybe you might like Fallout, Dragonage, kingdom come deliverance, dragon's dogma, GREED FALL, ..... maybe middle earth showdow of war,..... maybe try out the whole main series of darksiers, darksiders 2 and darksiders 3.

Omg yeah - like I know the challenge of dark souls is what's enticing about the games but after a few rage quits it loses it's shine haha. Did you find elden ring to be more bearable?

Elden ring is waaaaaaaaaaay more bearable.
Only difference is ... I can't finish a single sentence when I get in the lozing zone, but it just comes down to not being trigger happy.

The open world nature of it is awesome, and most importantly, it's now patched to hell, so less exploits, more stability and Coop is so much fun.

Fallout 3 and new Vegas are good shouts for open world games. Plenty to explore and do.

Does switch Skyrim have mods? If not, Xbox Skyrim with mods will open up sooooo much. Plus there's the previous TES games like Oblivion and Morrowind playable through backcompat (oblivion is great, morrowind is very different so may not be enjoyed as much).

Depending on why you liked Skyrim you'll also have other Bethesda games (fallout mainly ATM), Outer Worlds, maybe Kingdoms of Amalur.

Dragon age combat is very different so if that and open world are all you want maybe not the series for you (personally love them but not analogous to Skyrim in those ways).

The Mordor games are great, very different combat/gameplay but fantastic games.

Overall I'd say you'll likely find things you enjoy, and gamepass makes it very easy and cheap to do so.

No mods on switch! Oblivion looks pretty badass I'll check that out too. As for the other games you recommended Ive never heard of any of them so thanks for introducing me to some new stuff - really appreciate the recommendations !! And wowww what the gamepass idea is so cool - actually didnt know that existed so thanks for tuning me into that too!

Bethesda made Skyrim and the series, they have another series called fallout which is basically the same mechanics but post apocalyptic instead of fantasy. Some great games, and number 4 has mods on Xbox.

Outer worlds is basically fallout by another company (the studio actually made one of the fallout games, new Vegas, which is by many considered the best).

Oblivion is more standard RPG than Skyrim and can be more complex, but it's a fantastic game.

Gamepass is incredible, of you get gamepass ultimate you also have gold (play online, 2 free games a month) and EA access for EA games. Best part is they own Bethesda so fallout and elder scrolls (Skyrim) games are all available with gamepass for no extra charge. Their new upcoming space game will be available day 1 as well.

You're in luck. Bethesda's next game is Starfield and it's supposed to release this year. It's an Xbox and Windows exclusive as well.

I like skyrim, but I prefer guns, so I mainly play Fall Out, Red Dead, etc.
