So, I'm currently saving up for a new console. I don't have one right now. I've always been a PlayStation and Nintendo fan. But, my favorite game of all time is Doom. I used to play it a ton growing up in the nineties. I heard that Microsoft bought Bethesda, right? Does that mean all future releases will be exclusive? I'm trying to figure out whether to go for a PS5 or a Xbox Series X. My friends aren't online gamers really so I won't be playing against anyone. I usually don't play online anyway though. I also kept my ps4 and xbox one x physical games after the consoles bit the dust. Most of the games I like to play other than Doom are cross platform.

No, they won't be exclusive. They'll be on PC, too. Save up for a PC.

As soon as they bought Bethesda, I used my console fund to buy a PC. Now I have a PC and a PS5. There is no need for an Xbox, and the PC GamePass is cheaper than the Xbox version.

Don't know why you've been downvoted. Microsofts publishing arm has always been the Xbox brand's bread and butter, not console sales.

Maybe because making it available for windows computers is still Microsoft exclusive. Just not Xbox exclusive

I'm not sure why, either. My best guess is that some people have an odd sense of brand loyalty. By me stating the fact that Xbox games aren't exclusive because they're also on PC, they infer (incorrectly) that I'm saying something negative about "their" brand.

Sony games also on PC. Though a lot later.

Not all of them I don't think. And even the ones that are, like you say it's way later. Not really comparable to Xbox games which are often both day one on PC, and also play anywhere (so you can buy and play on PC or console).

No, Microsoft owns several game studios that have multi-platform games. Minecraft is an excellent example of this.

New ones will probably be exclusive. I mean if Starfield, HiFi Rush and even Elder Scrolls are exclusive Ofcourse a game like Doom will be exclusive.

And when I say exclusive I mean exclusive to wherever GamePass is on.

People on here are saying PC but in reality MS only cares about Gamepass. Hell you can play their games on a browser and on your smartphone with mouse and keyboard or a controller.

So really it’s up to you. Do you want to stream the game, have a physical copy, play it on your phone, on your pc, on Xbox, on the Xbox app on PC, on Steam.

I think Xbox games are buy once play anywhere as well. You buy a digital version of an Xbox console game you get the PC version as well.

Get a PC instead. You save money in the long term and get both Xbox and PS5 games

Yup, Microsoft single handedly trying to ruin gaming. It’ll be on Pc, but good luck installing it or not having the shitty Xbox app mess the game up.

It won’t be exclusive, they’ll just make future Doom games accessible on GamePass on launch whereas everyone else will have to pay for it.

It's pretty unlikely. Microsoft technically could do it, but xbox is not doing well, they'd be losing shit loads of money.

Losing a lot of money, did you see that on their earnings report?

Yes. All future Bethesda games will be Xbox exclusive. Future Doom games, Quake, Wolfenstein, Dishonoured, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout.
