Well id say android is a gaming system because of all the android games. Not cause of emulation.
Geekfest_84 t1_jdveznx wrote
You could objectively say that most (but definitely not all) android games aren't really of console quality though. Hence emulating actual console games.

They're still a gaming platform even if half of the games are either ports or just plain trash. There's definitely an amount of the potential market for console (handheld at least) sales that have been lost to android.
Geekfest_84 t1_jdvnjm4 wrote
Definitely, but a lot of those handheld android devices are used for emulation.
thefjordster t1_jdvo7s2 wrote
Sure, but most of them are used for games made for (or at least ported to) Android.

Nintendo. But they already beating both of them, they are in a league of their own.

They've been in a league of their own since the Wii, they have their own fanbase and they stick to it, they aren't trying to compete with Xbox or Sony really and it's working, the Switch is probably gonna be the most sold console of all time soon. They're above both of them really and I mainly play on my Series X, as I lost my switch a bit ago
FunkinDonutzz t1_jdvxoya wrote
So by "league of their own" you mean "still hasn't caught up to the PS2, and Sony still have three of the five best selling consoles of all time".
Lol

Go back to twitter you moron if you're gonna console war.
Edit: Also that was before Jim Ryan
FunkinDonutzz t1_jdvzgc3 wrote
Can I remind you who said "Nintendo are in a league of their own" and is now having a meltdown because you can't back that statement up when challenged on it? (hint - it's you)
Also not sure what Jim Ryan being in charge has to do with anything, PS5 and the games are selling like hotcakes.

I'm not the one on the mental breakdown mate, you just got pissed I said anything is better than Sony.

No, I just don't tolerate people talking out their asses again, you've yet to back up "niNtNedO aRe iN a LEaGue oF thEiR oWn".
You have the mic, I'll wait, "mate".
JackdawMiles t1_jdw14ea wrote
Well for one, i see a lot less people actively dissing people on reddit/twitter for not liking a console if they prefer xbox/nintendo compared to if they like a playstation.
Also the switch is the second most sold console of all time, and the only reason why the PS2 is the most sold is because it was cheap as fuck
Edit: maybe it's... insecurities?

as I said, the switch, which has had 6 to 7 years of time, has sold more than any console, except one that released in 2001. and that's because it was dirt cheap. Every single person I know has a switch, and they use it since it's portable and you can play many great games on it.

The dirt cheap console won because it was that, dirt cheap. People got it because it was inexpensive, and now it's god tier because muh nostalgia, since you can't read i explained it

Disney could probably take on Nintendo in the family area. They also have lots of franchises to turn into exclusive games. They may be able to take on Microsoft and Sony too

Probably Apple. They could turn every i-device into apples equivalent of a Nintendo switch. Imagine an iPad pro M1 or M2 turned into a portable console. Expensive though.
Maybe Samsung? They seem to have the most android market share. Some would already say android is a gaming system already though because of emulation.
