Well you answered my question in a very cryptic manner, did the best I could man. Just answer the question normally next time.

Thought the answer was clear enough. The technology inside a console is largely irrelevant as long as the game play stacks up, except for PC gaming, where building your own machine or knowing all about the hardware is part of experience

My question had nothing to do with hardware of the specific consoles. My questions was specific about a persons understanding of technology.
If a person has no understanding of computers, you do not recommend they purchase a linux based machine.

Android.

Steam deck is Linux lol.
Like I said, go with a switch.

I still don't get ya. Who cares what the underlying OS is?
OkChicken7697 t1_iqss9qf wrote
It's a simple statement dude lol.
>Get a switch if you suck at technology.
>Get a steamdeck if you understand technology.
stewrogers t1_iqst8wh wrote
Why? What has understanding the technology got to do with playing games?
OkChicken7697 t1_iqstoto wrote
Because in order to use the steam deck you require an understanding of technology, whereas the switch, you turn it on, and you can begin playing immediately.
stewrogers t1_iqsu6nk wrote
That's really not the case.
OkChicken7697 t1_iqsv687 wrote
How?
stewrogers t1_iqswpfa wrote
There's all the faffing about of setting up user accounts and installing updates on a switch, like most other devices.
OkChicken7697 t1_iqt86j6 wrote
Yeah, the steam deck is much much much worse than that.
stewrogers t1_iqtate0 wrote
Then what's the point. Just buy a gaming laptop.
OkChicken7697 t1_iqtb427 wrote
Because it is handheld and all of it's resources are focused on gaming.

Just saw this thread and had to comment. Steam deck can be as easy as a switch. Sure, if you want to play games outside of steam it takes a little work, nothing a YouTube video can’t enable a monkey to do though. I agree with the other guy, but for a different reason. You really don’t have to be ‘good with tech’ to play a deck, just like you don’t have to be ‘good with cars’ to do standard maintenance. Watch a quick video, easy as 1-2-3.
Or just play the crazy amount of games steam had compatible and require 0 extra work at all.

I think you are overestimating the vast majority of peoples intelligence.

If anything I’m overestimating their motivation or ability to put forth any effort. Again, it doesn’t take many brain cells to watch a YouTube video and copy what they do, though I think most people would care less and just play steam games like I said, which is what the deck was technically made for and requires little to no effort to do.
