Been thinking of switching out my Xbox Series X for a PS5, largely due to the upcoming games for PS5. Don't get me wrong I love the Xbox, but I think I'd enjoy a lot of the new PS5 games more. Would you guys recommend switching out? If so, where could I do a console swap like this? I feel like they're at similar price points, so it would be a fair trade

Don't listen to the fanboy comments. Get what ever console has the games you want to play. That's all that matters.

The last of us 1 + 2, God of War 1 + 2, Horizon 1 + 2, Days Gone, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal, Death Stranded, Demon Souls, Kena, Astro Playroom.... Oh and the dualsense 🙂

I don't blame you.

Wow this sub is a microsoft cult. He clearly states he likes ps games more and you guys are repeating “Xbox more powerful, xbox better games” like drones that you are

If you think you would prefer the games on the ps5 then get that. Everything else is just noise.

I have both. If it's for exclusives the get the PS5 but, if you are like me, I rarely play a game through twice. I always go back to my series x. Always. It is my primary entertainment. Everytime I go to buy a game I can usually play it on gamepass. That said I love the PS exclusives but if I had to pick one system I would pick my xbox series x and I play on everything. Comp, switch, ps5, series x, steam deck. I just returned to the Xbox after a month away because it always has something great.

Dude. Xbox series x runs games a teeny tiny better and the ps5 loads them a teeny tiny faster. Other than that, it's virtually the same box. Switch as much as you'd like.

Don’t listen to anyone on here. Just go with what your gut says.

I was a long time Xbox fan, ever since the very first Xbox on launch day 2001 but when it came to next gen, nothing on XSX interested me. Part of that is my taste in games have changed. I used to enjoy FPS games but now prefer single player story driven games. Ps5 had many more exclusives and single player games that interested me.. so I made the leap of faith and switched. Still kept my old Xbox One X for old games. I don’t regret my decision and love my ps5! I’ve played horizon forbidden west, last of us, deathloop, spider man, and have many more games I’m looking forward to! I find myself playing more games on ps5 then I did on Xbox.

I don’t consider myself a fan boy though. I just go where the games are that I enjoy. If that means jumping ship for future gen, so be it. Life is short, so go with what makes you happy and enjoy it! Even if it means you have to pay a bit more for the games 😂

I had both at one point I had the Xbox mainly for halo and gears of war both my favourite games but ps5 I all ways go back to and it has the most games I like to play and all my offer favourites games for me is ps5. If ps5 has the game you like to play then go with it if Xbox is more what you like to play stay with Xbox and game pass.

I agree the ps5 is better in my opinion The Xbox is also good but it's not for everyone

Wouldn‘t do it unless you really need the ps5 exclusives

The xbox is the better console and gamepass is a better value than ps+

Why switching over when you have the best of both worlds? Sure, PS5 games have and will get more exclusives, but unlike PlayStation, Xbox has more better deals and retro games. I don't own either the next gen consoles, but I do have both PS4 and Xbox One S. But I digress. It's really up to you though, but be careful about how much you're spending.

My point is he should keep the Xbox and just go on buying the PS5.

And I did say that in the beginning it's up to that person to buy the PS5, as well as me saying to be careful about how much you're spending.🤷🏾‍♂️

Unless you swap used for used and its for exclusives… it’s really not worth it. Just it being opened loses a lot of value.

I feel like the PS5 has the advantage in games but they are starting to release those on PC too so that is lessening.

Good decision. Sell the Xbox as used in your local marketplace (Kijiji, Facebook, Craig, ect.)

Then the ps5 will seem even more affordable. The next gen games exclusive to ps5 make the swap 100% worth it. The Xbox is the cheapo console, okay for its game library but isn't "platinum" level as ps5 offers.

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc."

"Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are etc., &c., &c, and et cet. The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase.

I wouldn’t recommend it personally. The Xbox on paper is technically more powerful and better cooled then the ps5. We’ve already seen a lot of games that have come out on both platforms running better on series x. Whether that be in frame pacing, frame rate consistency, graphic fidelity or resolution the series x is in the lead. On top of that game pass and cross platform play are unparalleled on Xbox, especially with the integration of discord to run natively on series x.

While I agree play station has some strong exclusives like God of War and Horizon, I would argue that Microsoft’s exclusives and recent acquisitions of activision blizzard are much stronger going forward.

I’d say keep the Xbox, save up for a steam deck and just play the Sony exclusives there. Plus you’ll be able to play wherever you want.

Wow delusion is strong with this one. “Better frame pacing, better fps on xbox,, BETTER COOLING” AHAHHAHA. Literally 90% of the ps5 size is dedicated to cooling. I would say your right if you were talking about resolution but ps5 generally has better fps than xbox. Your comment is straight up microsoft shilling. And no, non of xbox exclusives can match to ps exclusives. Microsoft has a history of killing the studios they buy and activision, bethesda are shitty studios anyway. Take your L

The Xbox does in fact have all these things on some of the consoles shared games, a recent example would be guardians of the galaxy. The PS5 on performance mode cannot hold a steady 60 fps at 1080p resolution, where the series x can hold 60 fps much better and with VRR support any drops are not felt throughout gameplay. Obviously this is one example, but in general games do run at higher resolutions/dynamic resolutions, frame rates, if only slightly and the included VRR built into the console provides smoother gameplay where it cannot hold a consistent frame rate. Series X also plays more games at 120 fps then PS5 and has better ray tracing, like in games such as doom eternal and resident evil village.

One console is technically more powerful then the other, which accounts for these difference, that’s not a point of debate. While developers can and do optimize there software to run as good as it can, it will never account for the difference in raw compute power.

90% of the ps5 is not designed for cooling, it’s blower style fan and fin stack are packed into the side of it. While the PS5 pulls more power with a larger PSU it’s cooling pushes air in all directions over everything at once, resulting in higher temps on the motherboard. The APUs on both vary in temperature but generally hold close to each other in most testing.

Microsoft’s exclusives are much stronger going forward if you want to play multiplayer games. These are designed to run natively on Xbox hardware at the best performance. With the recent acquisition Microsoft has made, games like Call of Duty and Warzone will almost certainly release first on Xbox and with more content then PS5. Other blizzard titles will surely make there way to the console as well, with possibly exclusivity like Diablo 4 and WoW.

While I don’t disagree that Sony has great exclusives I would argue there all single player experiences. As I said before you could experience the best of both worlds by simply picking up a steam deck and having all your Sony games on the go. Single player stuff is great for travelling or laying in bed.

Im not shilling I’m just pointing out the differences. The xbox just has more benefits in my opinion, gamepass is still unparalleled by anyone in terms of value and choice. Xbox is the best place to play for cross play, with built in support on windows PCs with Xbox you can connect with people the same way you would using the Xbox’s social interface. Plus the added use of discord you can communicate however you want without having to use a phone of laptop next to you.
