Hey, i hope this is a right place to ask this. I've been really wanting to get a console recently. I've been looking towards either Xbox Series X or PS5, and i'm not sure which one i should get. Could anyone tell me which one would be better to get? Thanks.

Edit. Thanks for the responses, i chose Xbox and also got a game pass. Very good thing, so much games for free, already got a few. I'm very happy, my mom probably isn't so happy spending so much money for "a plastic box" lol

As a PS5 owner, I chose the PS5 because the Sony exclusives appeal to me.

However if they never I'd have gone for the X, purely for the gamespass.

Completely agree with this, love the exclusives that Sony bring to the playstation, but if you are looking for an easy system to play a variety of games then the xbox and game pass is a great option.

That makes sense, for me it’s the Xbox exclusives (mostly Forza Motorsport/Horizon) and gamepass

If you care for Sony exclusives, ps5. If you don’t, definitely Xbox. As someone who has both, the xbox is the better console and gamepass is the best deal in gaming rn

I'm considering getting an Xbox. Btw do you know by any chance if you can connect an Xbox 360 controller to Xbox Series X?

1

ZekerNietTijn t1_is2fdc6 wrote

No xbox 360 not BUT the games from 360 are playable on series x. Every xbox one, one s, one x, series s and x will have controllers that fit on all the other xbox and on laptop and phone but not 360.

My english is very bad so i hope u understand

I think this is the only answer you need.

As a Series X owner, I do not regret my choice. It's an amazing console, and despite what people say, it has amazing games. This isn't the 8th generation anymore, there isn't a clear winner. You can't really go wrong with either one. I prefer Xbox for the variety in games, and the amazing value that game pass brings. Although if you like the kind of exclusives Sony has, go with a PS5. But I personally recommend the Series X.

Series X if you want quality console but decent games. PS5 worst console ever built but has good games

How so?

Flimsy and loud

Captobvious75 t1_is1my96 wrote

You got a shitty one then man. Mine is just as quiet as my Series X.

4

Separate-Eye5179 t1_is6ueqv wrote

Are you sure? My dads series x is miles quieter than my ps5.

Captobvious75 t1_is6uzoa wrote

Yep. I have both of my boxes beside eachother and they are both silent. Only time I hear either is if I have a disc in them.

TheDreamLightDude t1_is1amrz wrote

Unsure if you got the short end of the stick but I've never heard a wink out of mine and in terms of flimsy, it just sits there? What's it doing lol?

Separate-Eye5179 t1_is6uj3b wrote

It’s scary how poorly built it feels. Games are awesome on it though.

derpboye t1_is1eicd wrote

Agreed. I had 3 Ps5‘s which all sounded like electric trimmers when playing a bit more demanding games. Meanwhile the Series X is not silent either, but the only sound it generates is a low humming noise. I’d say Xbox has a better build console while Sony has a better controller.

I am on my 5th replacement on my PS5 all sounded like a barber razer or a tractor.

1

derpboye t1_is2if6h wrote

Yeah the Ps5 is just badly build. They should’ve aimed for a higher price and than used better components, especially in the Psu.

2

thebigarn t1_is26wv4 wrote

i’ve got both. if you want the Playstation exclusives then that’s your answer. Otherwise to me it’s xbox. My xbox is my main gaming machine especially with gamepass. Both are great systems but ps5 just gets used for my God of War or Horizon fix.

James2db t1_is1e2kc wrote

I all ways mainly had a PlayStation they have all the games I what to play and the exclusive are the ones for me. But Xbox has one of my favourite games halo and gears. All in all go for a ps5.

Kyzar93 t1_is1rdl2 wrote

Series x if you aren't invested in Sony exclusives or PS5 if you are invested in those exclusives.

PS5 also has better recording out of the box if that's anything important to you.

AdTurbulent3650 t1_is22m77 wrote

PS5 is harder to get in some places but better in my opinion

Happy-Chocolate-6574 t1_is23ayr wrote

I sold my PS5 and bought a Series S instead of an X. I only did that for personal reasons since I’m a PC gamer who will only use it for sports games. I recommend the PS5 if you care about the exclusives especially since they FINALLY dropped the 1440p update. But even the S I feel is a better built system so if you care more about that go for the X.

2

Piruparka t1_is4fwdh wrote

I’ve got both too. Ps got the better games, better controller. Xbox console is better hardware wise, very calm. However, I hardly use it because I prefer playing games with the outstanding ps controller. If a game is available on both consoles, I get it for ps5 unless the Xbox one has way better performance or exclusive content

Splattershappen t1_is4xs2f wrote

Feel free to search this question because it had been answered 6 million times. If this shows one thing, both the series X and the PS5 are both good consoles and you will always want what you don't have.

2

JAJITJIT t1_is0nity wrote

Both if you can.

Sinine_Sokk420 OP t1_is0nxd9 wrote

I can't get both sadly, but that would be awesome lol. Though i would have to spend even more money on discs

I have sold my ps5 in favor of my gaming pc, sony's furture plans is to release there exclusive in time on pc, and there is talk that, they will launch thier own Playstation launcher on pc maybe next year.

1

ZekerNietTijn t1_is2ftrp wrote

I dont think they can beat xbox. Xbox is already more then 3 years on pc. Microsoft wont make it easy for Sony cause they probably use their software

0

GamerTMTDK t1_is2gmga wrote

I agree. They also have more money to make what they do, happen.

Steam deck 👍 given time (for the PlayStation "exclusives") it's the best of both worlds.

1

nakabra t1_is4hku1 wrote

I guess it depends on who you ask. I got my Series x because I like gamepass wich is a subscription service in where you can download or stream games that cycle through their catalog but the Playstation has a game called "The last of us" that is not available in the xbox and a lot of people seem to enjoy.

blazinlow86 t1_ispo430 wrote

Xbox is the no brainer this generation, Sony's dropped the ball this generation 👍

PS5. It's better. If you can't figure out why for yourself, then buy an Xbox.

1

skatistic t1_is1br4d wrote

Depends on what your friends have.

If you're going to be occasionally solo playing and offline, I'd go with the cheapest gamepass.

If you're a good gamer who like exclusives, prolly PS5.

0

ZekerNietTijn t1_is2g8xr wrote

Not true. This gamepass gives you acces to more online then offline games.

If you are a good gamer that plays heavy games you should choose series x

Was always a PS fanboy. Struggled to get one due to stock issues and picked up a series X. Game pass is awesome and very happy with the X. No regrets and don’t feel compelled to buy a PS5 despite them being more readily available.

Gaming PC plus PS5 is the way. Get the ps5 and save for your PC. Hopefully you can get your pc by the time the Bethesda and Activision exclusives start dropping.

He asked about getting a console. And besides, good PCs are stupid expensive. And the price point is one of the major allures of having a console. And besides, Sony is starting to put their games on PC, so eventually the argument could be made that you don't need a console. But consoles have always been more popular for a reason. Even though PCs can do more, most people want a simple way to play their games.

−1

Anubra_Khan t1_is1scfb wrote

And I gave him an answer. Maybe by the time Sony gets their superior library to PC (it is multiple years away), he can afford a PC.

I have a PC setup on my OLED. It's just a console to me.

1

WyattTheSarcastic06 t1_is1tlq6 wrote

I'm just saying, not everyone can afford a good PC. And so I don't think it's fair to tell someone to get a PC instead of a Xbox. And if he is asking to get one console out of two, I don't think it's completely fair to just write one of them off and say "get a PC".

ElectricalStrength35 t1_is6ya2u wrote

Honestly i agree with the part of having a pc and a playstation, however i will admit that having even a mid range pc is still a bit expensive, i had to buy mine off a friend.
