Long length gameplays. I prefer short games, 5-10 hours to finish them max.

None of them really bother me

I prefer 60fps over 30fps but it’s not a deal breaker for me

people complain about rdr2 being 2 immersive. i agree to so extent but i also feel like the realisticness made me enjoy it more. i felt so absorbed into it because of how realistic the graphic and animations are, i really felt like i was living a double life as a cowboy

I wasn't a fan personally

re1dz t1_isv6xd9 wrote

i can understand why, some people really dont enjoy having to sit through long animations of looting someone or skinning animals and thats understandable

I just hated the hand holding and sluggish gameplay. The first Red Dead Redemption was significantly more impactful in my opinion.

i can agree with you there, in rdr1 i felt more emotional playing as John because he really was alone, he had nothing and no one except for his family who is being withheld from him

Short games are fine if priced lower.
I like remasters and remakes if warranted, I hate game series with yearly games WAY more. (CoD/assassin creed)
Lowered graphics ? If stylized it's fine.

Not sure what you mean by gatekeeping level design though.

Gay_Charlie OP t1_isul0h3 wrote

Gatekeeping is a challenge basically

1

DarkAztaroth t1_isuursc wrote

Then no issues with it. Any semi-linear game with challenges is gonna be 'gatekeeping' the next challenge and is a tool necessary to design and make a game.

30 FPS. I don't know why it's such a big deal.

Any-Restaurant5201 t1_istqd36 wrote

I don’t think I can even tell the difference 😂

Depends on what your eyes are used to.
If you game on 30 fps regularly you're not gonna mind at all.

IF you play 144hz all the time and switch back to 30, it looks like stopmotion animation. Some older screens also have a lot of blurring, which might camouflage it and a lot of games have motion blur which also helps.

30 fps (really depending on the game) and remasters/remakes

Games being too long. It's like complaining about too much cake.

Gay_Charlie OP t1_istykxw wrote

I don't like them very long actually. I like Days Gone but it just keeps going.

E-Girl_Nikko t1_istry7z wrote

None of those bother me, in fact I enjoy most of them if it is done stylistically.

What do you mean by ‘Gatekeeping Level Design’ though?

1

Gay_Charlie OP t1_istsyfz wrote

Something like Iudex Gundyr at the beginning of Dark Souls 3.

Never played that. Can you elaborate further. Like are they holding back levels?

Name a game you have played, something well known.

Don't play a lot of platformers, but Super Mario Odyssey

1

Gay_Charlie OP t1_isvdxn1 wrote

Okay, you need moons to explore other areas right? That's a type of gatekeeping.

2

Secure_Chipmunk_1466 t1_isvem91 wrote

Oh. Yeah, I don't see that as a problem, it's just part of a game's progression. I originally thought you meant like waiting a month to release a level.

jidar t1_istsbuw wrote

I would wager that most people aren't really bothered by any given thing, the question is just "is this game good."

1

Gay_Charlie OP t1_istt106 wrote

Which is a problem in my opinion.

Happy-Chocolate-6574 t1_isveoos wrote

People just enjoying a fun game is a problem for you? People like you who absolutely must find something wrong with every little thing are the real problem.

Remakes when done right are amazing ways to play old games on new systems especially when they modernise all the controls and put in a auto save feature

  1. My first console was a ps1... i've spent my life from 1998 to 2019 without ever playing anything in 60 fps (purposely)... and it still doesn't bother me, unless I'm having my ass handed to me in R6S. Still rockin Yu Gi Oh FM, GT2, Tekken 3 and GTA2 till this day with approximately 0 complaints.

30fps, 60fos, performance mode etc. I'm in my 40's, so maybe I'm just being old, but I honestly don't get the big issue with it all. I just leave it on whatever the default setting is. I'm old enough to remember when game characters were literal blocks, yet the gameplay made it goty.
