So I have a ps5 and a Nintendo switch(which I spend a lot of time on) I was thinking of getting a Xbox series s for Christmas so I can play all the Xbox exclusives but I don’t know if it’s worth it

If you mind going digital over physical then I'll recommend getting a series s for you.

Series S is great! Only thing is less storage and all digital.

I had one PS5 and Series S and I'm very grateful for it. Gamepads is a Gold, I play variety of games without any problem. IF I want to play very high quality games in 4K I just buy the title for my PS5.

I like it. It doesn’t feel fully next gen but it feels half way there. Graphics seem decent but what makes it not feel last gen is the quick load times. Would recommend getting an expansion card, but by the time you do that you might as well get Series X.

Series S can be found for sale easily now.

Paired with gamepass and perhaps a 512 gb expansion card, you can't go wrong with it. I got a series x for 4k, but since you already have a 4k capable console, that shouldn't be a problem.

Series X/X is definitely worth it, even if you don't play on as much as the others. It easily has the best subscription with gamepass which includes day one releases and some great backwards compatible games

Series S is the reason we aren't getting major aaa games that fully exploit the current gen. Devs have to downgrade so it's playable on S.

I don’t know if I could ever fully recommend the Series S. If you’re just wanting to get gamepass and play the exclusive titles on there, then that should be fine for the moment.

However there are a lot of developers trying to get Xbox to remove the Series S launch requirements. Essentially making games that are able to play on the console are severely limiting development capabilities.

It’s something Xbox constantly claims is not an issue, but we’ve been hearing multiple developers complaining since even before the consoles launch.

I’m sure that there likely won’t be any big issues for a while, until some really demanding games release, and even then I’d expect Xbox to find a workaround; like games that require more power than the Series S has, have to be streamed.. instead of played on the console itself.

But you still have no guarantees. It’s not as simple as lowering assets, frame rates, resolution… etc… there’s always going to be other development constraints because of the limited power the Series S brings to the table.

So while I doubt Xbox will just roll over and say some games are Series X only, I also don’t think they can willingly just hold back development of every title on their platform just to make sure it runs on their budget console.

Something will have to give.

So as it stands now, Series S, just for playing gamepass first party exclusives is a great buy.. But in the future, it could end up being somewhat obsolete, depending on what Xbox decide to do

Personally I'd wait and find a series X. By the time you've bought a series s and the storage you might as well just get the X.

Get the series X, it's the no-brainer choice this generation. Gives you access to all of the best exclusives at the best quality and the best price 👍👍
