I currently have a ps4 which is my main console and a Nintendo switch which I gave to my younger brother and we play over watch 2 and apex together. He’s been using the Nintendo for about 2 years now and he’s never played in 30+ fps ever. So I wanted to get myself another console so I can give my brother my PS4 which is in great condition and not slow even after all the years of me owning it. So I decided that my 2 options were to get a used ps4 pro or a Xbox series s for both for about $350 CAD. Kinda need some advice about the 2 options.

PS4 pro has 6 months to 1 year lifespan left at most in my opinion. If you want to play new games in the long run you can go with series s. You'd cover online with Gamepass also if you play multiplayer often.

Depending on your tv and how much more you can squeeze out of your pocket I'd say consider getting a PS5 though. Stocks are coming back and you'll be able to buy it in retail price. Lately Activision deal sparked a console wars mindset in reddit but I think PlayStation still has the best games of the console world and gives the best experience with dualsense.

No disrespect to Xbox owners though, my roommate has one and I think it's a great machine, just doesn't appeal to me.

Thanks for the feedback. After reading these comments I think I will go with the series s because everyone is telling me to. I don’t want to go out of budget though and buy a ps5 because I don’t really enjoy games that much anymore and I’m doing this for my brother so he can get my old ps4

Ps5 is pointless at this point. The exclusives are available on the PS4 and Microsoft's PC 👍👍

Series s, its much faster, loading times are non existent compared to ps4 pro, and it runs most games on 60 fps. Its definitely not as loud (I cannot hear it ever) and loading times, stuttering etc have never been a problem. I assume you've already played the PS4 exclusives, a ps4 pro is last gen and won't get games from the next year approximately. A series s is next gen and equiped with the same cpu as a series X. There is no point in getting a ps4 pro if you've already played the exclusives

Tell you what buy a sick paintball pistol like a Glock 17 or FSC silencer attached. And let that shit rip in you’re back yard add a green lazer slowly build it up. Start playing home of duty.. feels a little more realistic and less boring after awhile.

  • but id get the xbox. Ps look nice af every edition is built well and sophisticated in nature above all. over the xbox. But man i must admit the psychological effect of what gaming looks and feels like in a product.. idk why, but the brand xbox and Microsoft cornered the monopoly on gaming and gamers. Having both since 18 years and hardcore ex gamebattles player with the call of duties segas years ago… I had to trade my playstations twice to be more competitive and play more seriously with real gamers and tournaments run on xbox. “I was a staff referee for Call of Duty 4 in Major league Gaming at the time which helped my decision to the switch as well” Early on. As a hardware.. no question however.. i knew letting my old school first edition shiny playstation built like a tank hurt a lot… seeing my ps3 go to some lucky 40 year old i met on kijiji at 13years old.. ouch.. nearly cried..!! in turn for his cheap plastic feeling like 360! Yea it was heart breaking… and remorseful… but all my friends and all the cod action in MLG was sponsored and run on xbox… and yup. That experience overall was priority over the much better built hardware.. so ill ask u this are u okay with casually gaming. How do u feel about gaming. Whats you’re description, segmentation on yourself: psychographics… how do you describe your personality in gaming. The hardcore rating to lower end of the spectrum would be imo the best way to decide if playstation or xbox is going to be more suitable for the type of gamer you’re nature fits.

In simple terms the xbox gaming functionality in almost every-way despite my praise for playstation is just simply better, the gaming user experience is just so much more understanding then playstation when it comes to knowing you’re audience. One ☝️ just knows it by heart much better.

If my uncle asked me the same question for instance: Playstation with no hesitation id say

The only problem with the Xbox is that I will lose all my apex legends progression because they don’t have cross platform progression meaning all my PlayStation progression will be lost although I did think about just giving that account to my brother along the PS4

Series X is what you want as a main and a ps4 or ps4 pro to play the few games not available on the Series X. No brainer choice this generation. But if you can't afford it then the Series S is good too 👍👍
