Does your boyfriend own a gaming PC if the answer is yes I would probably go with the PS5 or even better take him to the store and let him pick it's a large purchase so you might as well get him exactly what he wants

Sega Dreamcast.

I voted xbox. But really it depends on what you have in the case you want to play together. and what does he wants to play. (I'm looking at you all the exclusives๐)

Series x would save lot of money in games , digital foundry often prove better performance as well

Do you know which console did he have before? (Last gen)
WhisperingWolf02 OP t1_iuic9ql wrote
His last console was the PS4, but heโs been debating if he wants an xbox or not

Then the Series X, he can continue using the PS4 for PlayStation exclusives. Getting a ps5 would be pointless ๐

If he has a PC, none. If he has a Playstation, PS5, if he has an Xbox, the Xbox Series

Find out what his friends have , or if your boyfriend already has a playstation 4 or Xbox one. Then buy the corresponding upgrade.

Series X as the main is the no brainer this generation, and a ps4/ps4pro for the few PlayStation exclusives if desired. Sony has epically dropped the ball with the PS5 and there is likely a ps5pro coming soon to better compete with the series X ๐๐
Quick_Public7479 t1_iujqhng wrote
What are you talking about the ps5 has high sales and are continuing to make good exclusives not to say the Xbox series x is bad but you make it sound like the ps5 is on its death bed
blazinlow86 t1_iujqzcb wrote
The Xbox is clearly the champ this generation. It will take time but if Sony doesn't get off there asses and pivot quickly they could be on there way to there deathbed. They can't rely on exclusives only now that Microsoft has just as many if not more plus the better hardware, platform, services, values etc ๐๐
Quick_Public7479 t1_iujr7ke wrote
True services are much better however hardware is comparable as well as pricing
blazinlow86 t1_iujrkd4 wrote
Series X is considerably more powerful, plus Microsoft has considerably cheaper prices as well as free exclusives with gamepass. Sonys going backwards these days
amcman15 t1_iujwarn wrote
It is not considerably more powerful lol. The Xbox is absolutely more conventionally powerful but the difference isn't particularly large. Not enough for it to really factor into which console you choose. And this is someone who would own a Series X if he didn't already have a PC.
Furthermore, basically every sales estimate I've seen has the PS5 moderately ahead of the X/S.
For example: https://www.vgchartz.com/article/454086/ps5-vs-xbox-series-xs-sales-comparison-may-2022/
blazinlow86 t1_iujwu6t wrote
The facts say different. The series X is considerably more powerful than the PS5. Look up Sony's comments about the Activision sale to see Sony's situation. Selling more consoles at a loss isn't the name of the game anymore ๐๐

Depends. Ask his friends what system theyโre playing on. If he is new to gaming, he will be playing plenty auf games in the series X bc of the backwards compatibility and the game pass. Also there are coming plenty of games in 2023 to the Xbox eco system and gamepass(I hope so). Right now, PlayStation has the best rated exclusives and an offer like gamepass, but not that strong as the gamepass.
All games and services aside, in my opinion, itโs the beste experience If you have friends to play on with.
