I got a Philips 65 inch TV with ambilight and it was one of the best purchases I have made regarding gaming, the ambilight fills your peripheral vision the colours you're seeing on the screen and enhances the immersion, I could never go back to normal TV.
in short, whatever you buy make sure it has ambilight, you won't regret it.
Also I paid about £350(around $415) but keep in mind you could get a smaller tv for less, just make sure it has ambilight.
I forgot to mention make sure it's 4K

I spent WAYYYYY TOO MUCH MONEY but if you can afford it, ive been in love with this tv
You can buy those immersive backlighting systems separately. No need to base your TV purchase around it.
Yeah, HDMI 2.1 seems to mostly deal with 4K and higher than 60hz right now. I believe the PS5 requires 2.1 to use Variable Refresh Rate tech in the display, but I'm not sure a tv with a 60hz panel is going to have that either. Xbox Series X will do VRR over a 2.0 connection.

My idiot husband bought a 4k tv for the living room but now he hates it because it looks too real 🙄
My wife will be saying the same in 3 months
I have the 77 inch version of this tv and it is amazing well worth the money.

I have the 65 inch. The blacks absolutely blow me away… the intro to Andor really shows it off well.

I just bought a super cheap (about $250) 42" 4k 60Hz LG for my grandson's PS5. It's certainly not greatest TV, but it looks miles better than the old 1080p TV he had. But to answer your question, yes, HDMI 2.1 doesn't really matter if you're just working with 60Hz TV's.
