So, with winter ans christmas comming soon, i was thinking about getting an "old" console. ( Because it's cheaper than New console depending of what console 💁)

But with my studies i dont really get the Time to check out what should i buy, i'm someone who prefer the solo gaming with good stories and i'm not fully involved into the "gaming" universe, so i was wondering if you would have some suggestion of what console i should buy that could make me enjoy solo gaming just like old Time :))

Also it Can be an "portable" console or a "standard" console im okay with both. 😁 ( And because i'm "young" (17 years old) a rétro console is everything before the PS4, Wii-U ext... Even a PS3 for exemple is rétro for me x') 👌🏻✨)

(Thanks you again for you answer, im new to Reddit and that's the first Time i open a chat i Hope it will be nice to talk each other :))

Also sorry for my potentialy Bad english im french but i want to improve ☺️🇨🇵✨✨

A ps3 would be good. They are cheap and easily hacked, meaning you don't have to buy games if you don't want. Don't even need a CD drive really. If you replace the hard drive in it with an SSD then you won't have to worry about it failing either.

I would recommend a PS3, the fact that it's fairly easy to jailbreak at this point makes it one of the best. There's also tons of emulators for it that you can play games from other consoles with.

If you're hoping to only play legitimate software it's still a pretty good choice given most charity shops have a good supply of games, blurays also don't scratch as easily as regular DVDs.

A lot of consoles older than the PS3 esp anything from Nintendo GameCube and previous are in huge demand with collectors so you'll be paying a ton for some of the more desirable games.

Like others have said, PS3 is the best option. The Sony exclusives are amazing single player experiences, and at least in the us they are quite affordable. For example, uncharted trilogy is like Indiana Jones, with the second and third games being amazing, Last of Us has an amazing story and gameplay, and God of War 1 2 3 are really fun to play.

Also, you have a large catalog of non-exclusives. My favorite single player campaigns are Bioshock, Call of Duty Modern warfare (1,2,3), COD Black Ops (1,2), spec ops the line, red dead redemption, and GTA V.

It depends what you prefer - a portable or a home console?

If a portable console, get either a PS VITA or 3DS and jailbreak them. It's incredibly easy, just one google search and the first page has all the instructions. You can then download regular VITA/3DS games, emulators, roms, romhacks, etc.

As for a home console, either a PS3 or a Wii. Again, it's simple to jailbreak/hack them so you have thousands of hours worth of content at your disposal.

Hope you find something you'll like!

If you want to play lots of classic games, you may also want to consider something like a RaspberyPi or an android emulator box.

I can't say much about how a lot of emulators run on these, but many can run up to the PS2 fairly competently as well as some more complicated to emulate consoles like the Saturn (multiplatform games are usually better on PS1 this generation and while it has a lot of really cool exclusives, it's hard to justify paying 400-1000$ for some of the better titles)

The New 3DS or New 3DSXL then homebrew it. You can play all gameboy and DS/3DS games, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis/Master System. And it’s PORTABLE. You’ll never run out of great games to play.
