Hey! About a month back I bought an Xbox series X as I wanted to upgrade from my xbox one, I have around 200 games on it so felt it would be a waste to change to Sony and lose access to all my games. After buying the xbox series X I couldn't help but feel a little underwhelmed, despite its performance upgrades over the xbone I found myself just playing the same games I did on xbox one and it didn't really feel "next gen" to me

Fast forward about 3 weeks and I caved in and bought the ps5 disk edition. As soon as I opened it up I felt it was a more premium future of gaming type console, despite the size of the thing. The controller alone seemed a better quality than the series x control pad, yesterday I went back on my xbox and couldn't get over how flimsy the control pad felt in comparison to the PS5 controller.

Games wise ps5 already has exclusives and some great ones at that, I'm thinking of selling my xbox series x as it's really lacking on the game front (you could even buy a ps5 and a standard xbox one if there was an xbox title you would miss

At the end of the day it's all down to preference, performance wise, I haven't noticed a difference. Xnox starts up games fast ( very fast if using quick resume) but for me personally I don't mind the 3 or 4 second longer wait on the ps5 as I know its just a better experience for me.

I also have gamepass, and I must say I think it's overrated - not to say that some people wouldn't find it a great deal, but I think it's a few big titles and a lot of filler in there.

I dont think you can go wrong with either console, they both have good and bad aspects, the PS5 just feels the more next gen console to me ( this could change if xbox starts bringing out some exclusives but until then I think ps5 is the stronger choice

I have a custom Xbox controller anyways, and I've had gamepass before, and there are quite a few games I like. But I just hate the ps5 controller tbh, and I'm not gonna lie I'm kinda an Xbox fan boy, but i want to get the best one. Also keep in mind the ps5 is more expensive (extra 100). I do really wanna play some ps exclusives tho. I've heard a leak of a new Xbox series X and ps5 pro next year, should I wait for those instead?

I was looking into the ps5 pro and xbox Pro type consoles seeing if they were worth the wait too, but as of yet there is no concrete evidence they'll be coming out anytime soon, especially with how high demand the standard ps5 and xbox series x are, I personally can't see them bringing them out in the next year or two as we haven't even seen the full potential of these consoles yet, no games so far really pushing there technology so the release of an even more powerful console when the current first release consoles aren't even being pushed doesn't make sense. I think a slim version of either console could be released in a year or so but even then the size of the ps5 or xbox isn't much difference ( probably smaller) than the pc you were used to playing on.

I mean the ps5 is out of stock nearly everywhere here but the series X is readily available in every store, so I think Xbox might come out next year possibly, but idk. The cheapest Xbox is from Argos for £449 Vs the ps5 from John Lewis/marks and Spencers for £600 with mw2, GOW Ragnarok and FW. But i feel like there was no point selling my pc just to get a console for nearly the same amount (ps5) so idk

Are you in the UK? I got my Ps5 from game for £480 either spiderman miles morales ps5 version, they had it in when I went to the shop. Its probably just checking back every once in a while and a bit of luck.

If you are leaning towards the series X and think you'll have fun with it, I'd say get it, but I wouldn't base your decision necessarily off of if there is a more powerful console on the way, as even if you waited for the xbox series x upgrade then the next next gen console would be around the corner so you could be waiting indefinitely.

Both the consoles have great graphics and I haven't seen either struggle in performance so I think they are both a safe buy, if a pro version comes out you could well the early version and buy the new

Idk, I just don't wanna spend £500 for there to be a new and better version in 6 months, I'll think about it and thanks for your help

I also didn't want to switch from xbox to Sony as I felt like I had become attached to xbox, spent over a decade on them, however I got over it, the controller difference in how they feel with regards to the joystick layout etc becomes a non issue once you play on either controller for a few days, you just get used to it
