The odds are astronomical, and the chances of finding one probably kay with someone who got it in their mind that they were going to buy two and keep one sealed, and has probablybbeen sold off already or lost in someone's storage and probably crushed or scratched unsealed.

Of course! I don't believe they shrink wrapped them so, uh, honour system on that one. It'd be very hard to determine whether or not it had been opened before. Only under exceptional circumstances could you determine that.

Oh, so you are saying Nintendo did not seal them?

There could be a Nintendo seal on the opening flap that I'm unaware of but my understanding is there's no seal/sticker. I could be wrong.

Almost positive none got shrink wrapped though.

The very earliest NES stuff sold during the test market phase had glossy stickers sealing them, and then matte stickers, before they did away with the stickers for the full retail launch.

Any still in circulation?

GlassPanther t1_iytc8h4 wrote

Yup. You can find them on Ebay from time to time sold by people who don't understand the significance of the little sticker.

A few years ago my friends mom was cleaning the attic and found a super NES that had never been opened or played with.

We had a lot of fun with it.

There are a few graded by VGA as un-opened... yes. Not many though. I think I've seen about 2 or 3 truly unopened and they were all graded at the 8 level. Last one at open auction went for 7k I believe? Or somewhere around there.

Is the box opened though? So is it "Qualified" or not? Thousands of dollars depend on it!
