I’m right there with you, another important point to add in for me that ties in with your first point is the eco system. I play big games that I tend to start and stop on. Right now I’m playing rdr2 going for 100%, I’m playing through the train sim world games to get all of the achievements, plus some others. These are going to keep me busy gaming wise for a long while. If I switched console I’d have to buy those games again so the fact that im so entrenched in that MS ecosystem (and no complaints about that) is another big factor keeping me there
I do have a ps4 for the exclusives I want to play, there’s no tribalism on my part. I’ll get a ps5 when I can but there’s no rush.

Thanks for answering me! I really liked how PS controllers feel, and with new upgrades, dual shock seems better than ever. Can you tell me your experience with Xbox controllers? Are they durable? I have a nasty habit of pressing to strongly one of the analog sticks when I get too engaged into the game and "analog drift" used to be a big problem for me with ps3.
Sure thing. The controllers are not as good as they used to be, only when it comes to durability. I have had to replace two Xbox wireless controllers ($60). This is because they started to drift.
Basically, I would say to get a warranty on any controller you buy. If you manage to have it last longer than the warranty, I think you get your money's worth. If It drifts before the warranty is up, get it replaced.
It is a very comfortable controller, and I wouldn't recommend third party controllers because of this. They may not be as good as they used to be, but I still believe they are some of the best in the market.
Edit: NOT ELITE SERIES 2 ($130)... GOD no. I am not Bill Gates
Gamepass is overhyped. Controller is the same as it's been since the 360: garbage. Microsoft makes a powerful console but can't manage to output games, even with 30+ studios because their management sucks. Nobody cares about streaming unless they are trying to argue about Xbox.
If you say so man. I have fun with my Xbox, playing the games I like everyday. That's all I care about. Also, I didn't mention gamepass or the controller once in my reply. Seems like you just had that console war cooking in your head and didn't read most of my comment.
My opinions aren't limited by yours. If you can share yours, so can I.
Then it isn't a conversation, it's just you screaming at clouds. So I will treat it as such.
The fact that you clicked a button called 'reply' makes it a conversation. That's the definition of the word 'conversation'/ One person says something, then you reply.
This guy didn't ask for your opinion. OP did. Why not share your opinion with the person who asked for it instead of trying start an argument with someone who didn't?
I didn't ask for yours. Follow your own advice
I was just giving you friendly advice. I didn't share my opinion on the matter with you in any way.
As a PS player, the Xbox controller isn't garbage 😅
Totally agree, more comfortable for sure. But after experiencing DualSense, clicks and triggers of the Xbox controller feels a bit empty to me. New elite controller was a huge missed opportunity to bring adaptive triggers to Xbox in my opinion. But there could be a legal issue with that, you never know with Sony these days
As a player of everything BUT Xbox, comparatively, yes it does.
Can you give some examples of all of these? In what way is gamepass overhyped? What’s the issue with controllers? When was the last time you think Microsoft released a game?
You have a lot of issues here but I have a feeling it’s strowman arguments to try and justify a blind fanboyism to whatever your favourite console is
Why would anyone choose any? In fact if you have no history of "online purcahses" in any of their services, there's no reason to care. As long as titles, looks and controlers are ok for you, you can take what you want.. But if you have any games, choose same compny 😉
I have both consoles and they are both great but obviously there are some differences. PlayStation are better at producing single player, third person, action adventure games just for their console, the controller has some decent features like the haptics and speaker built in, it also tends to be supported slightly better by third parties. Xbox has the most comfortable controller out of the two (imo), gamepass is a massive draw for gaming, I tend to play far more on my Xbox because of access to newly released games every 10 days on average, I have played lots of games that I loved just because of this service, these would not have been games that I would have chosen if I needed to pay individually for them, the user experience on the Xbox is also superior, saves carry over seamlessly, cloud backup is not a paid for service, Quick resume is an absolute game changer and it also has Dolby Vision and Dolby Sound available whereas those are not available on the PlayStation. Bottom line, you will end up playing more games for less money on the Xbox (with gamepass) than you will on the PlayStation
Gamepass, availability, price, for me - controller. The two consoles are not that different as some might want to believe (I have current experience with both as someone who skipped on console-gaming for past 20 years). So in my point of view it is a matter of convenience. Personally I would never pay 500$ premium for roughly the same experience (although I just did, but out of pure curiosity and going to sell PS5)
The only reasons I can think to chose xbox over PS is because you are already heavily invested in Xbox and you don't have a PC. The backwards compatibility is really cool (even though it doesn't cover work with nearly as many games is they make it out to be). Game Pass is also a great service but PS Plus Premium has 300 more games and costs $60 less.
I used to buy both consoles but, with how expensive this console generation will be over the next 7 years, I ended up getting a PC. I've since also picked up a PS5.
The PC with game pass covers anything that's not available on PS plus, it has all of the PC games/mods, allows me to stream/make videos and even has some household utility. PC game pass is also cheaper than Xbox game pass. Point being, I don't see a reason for an Xbox. My Xbox One hasn't been powered up since I got the PC.
Another thing NOBODY mentions is that Xbox Series X/S has no current-gen only games. Aside from 3 games, every single game available on Series X is also playable on the Xbox One. These systems have been out for 2 years. On the other side of that, PS5's 20+ current gen exclusive titles are winning awards.
And finally, games. People complain about exclusivity but it works to create better games. Sony's exclusive games are the best games on the market. They've developed relationships with their developers and it shows in the games they make. Whereas Microsoft just buys up devs and dissolves them when they spit out lifeless games that underperform financially. Just look at all of GOTY nominees over the past 10-12 years. 1-3 nominees are Sony games every single year. That's not even including the other sub categories. Microsoft games are rarely in the running for any awards outside of maybe Forza for the Sports category.
Series X is backwards compatible all the way to the original Xbox, PS5 is only backwards compatible with PS4. It's also super easy to install emulators on Series X - it runs upscaled PS2, PSP, Gamecube, Wii etc really well.
Well my main thing was simply that my friends had Xbox so I wanted to be able to play games like forza with them without having to buy a pc to do so. Don’t get me wrong I’ve played on ps 3-4 and loved them both. Personally I like the Xbox controller more.
But I think that is only because all of my family has really long thumbs ant the joystick being further away is nicer feeling. (I don’t think this is true unless you have long thumbs) And I do really like gamepass honestly, I don’t know what ps plus is like tho, one of my friends who has a ps4 has told me that he doesn’t like the ps plus as much as he likes gamepass. But don’t ask me about that, I have never tried ps plus.
Gamepass is SO GOOD. The games selection is better than on Playstation and more importantly way newer. A lot of people find the controller better. I use an Xbox controller on pc so I agree it's a great controller, but I've been using a Playstation controller for almost 30 years so I'm used to it.
Anyway if Sony didn't have such great exclusives I'd be getting an Xbox for Gamepass. If god of war Ragnarok was on Xbox it would be day 1 on Gamepass.
I bought a ps5 at launch sold it after a year then got a series x played that for a couple of months then went back to the ps5, my X is collecting dust but gamepass was amazing on it and you can basically get it cheap if you buy say 2-3 years worth of gold then you can upgrade the gamepass to ultimate for £1
My kids do, I've got ps5 but they prefer xbox x, at least one is a pc gamer though, he just told me he's got a 3060ti now, very proud 😁 They're all in their 20s too so they buy their own stuff these days! Thank god!!
I haven't had a PlayStation since the PS2. Main reason I like Xbox is
A) the controller is just better with the stick layout B) xbox gamepass is great value and also has PC games C) better integration between PC and xbox, I can save on my PC and then resume on my xbox with many games. Makes is easier to play on whatever device is most convenient at the time
PS does have more exclusives for sure but they're mostly single player, story driven games which is not something I really play these days. Xbox has Halo and Forza Horizon which is more my kind of thing.
Game pass offers incredible value for money. This is the biggest advantage imo. Also some games drop onto game pass day one.

This is a bite-sized list, but ask any specific questions about the Series X and I'll help out the best I can.
