I bought the XSX recently and although it runs well I feel like I’m really missing out on the PS5 exclusives and the their new DualShock controller. Honestly it seems like Microsoft isn’t the best at making exclusives compared to PS5 ( just in my opinion), or maybe they just have not been focusing very much on that topic. Anyway what do you just think?

Performance wise, both machines are pretty much the same. They both have areas where they outperform the other. The difference is negligible.

So it is mostly a case of which games and hardware suit you best. Yes, at the minute, Sony has a better lineup of exclusives. That will change starting this year. Microsoft have purchased a lot of big studios over the last few years, and you will really start to see their exclusive library explode in these next couple of years.

My honest opinion, keep the Series X. Save up for a PS5. There will always be exclusives on the other side that you want. No matter which team you pick.

Edit, got my consoles mixed up at the end there.

I hear this comment, I own both personally… the exclusives are better on PS and although Xbox may have some new studios that doesn’t mean to say that the games will be better now with the newer studios. It’s still a risk.

Yea people keep saying 'the studios the studios' but they aren't actually producing anything noteworthy.

The “noteworthy” games are car games… forza which to be totally honest doesn’t appeal to me. I find Xbox very much a shooter gamer type console if you’re mostly online and mostly into car… shooters and similar it’s probably better… but for me I prefer RPG, JRPG so yeah

Well Microsoft did recently acquire Bethesda. So even beginning this year, the exclusives will be better for XSX. So when elder scrolls 6 comes out, it will most likely be exclusive.

Amelia210192 t1_j2lzj6l wrote

Why would it most likely be exclusive There’s no evidence to say it will be This is an assumption There’s monopolising laws so it’s unlikely they’ll suddenly do that Developers also don’t like exclusive games Miyazaki is an example hence the reason we had dark souls after demon souls

Microsoft buying studios (and let's not forget the Acti-Blizz deal is under a lot of scrutiny and hasn't actually been finalised) won't magically produce good games. If Halo - their flagship title - is anything to go by, and the fact that they've so far managed all of three "next gen" games in the last two years (only one of which is actually exclusive to the Series platform), there's a serious issue with mismanagement of their studios.

Sony have already proven they know how to pump out high quality titles at on a consistent basis, and there's nothing to suggest that's about to change.

Yeah nahh, I'm not arguing against the PS5 here. It's the console I use the most. My main point is that there will always be exclusives on the other side that you want. So get both.

FunkinDonutzz t1_j2iwv3n wrote

I've got both myself and over two years into the gen there's absolutely nothing in terms of exclusives I want on the Series X. Halo Infinite is my biggest gaming disappointment in years, console is not a good way to play Flight Sim (especially at 30FPS) and while Forza Horizon 5 is fine, it's basically glorified DLC for 4.

I'm hoping Starfield is good (although it coming from Bethesda I'm not exactly hopeful due to bugs/optimization) because as it is my Series X is mostly used to play Sleeping Dogs and Sonic Team Racing Transformed at 60FPS.

I wouldn‘t. With the Xbox you have a solid next gen option and a very good deal with gamepass. There will be some good new exclusives on Xbox too

I have both consoles and in my opinion the experience on Xbox is so much better. But you know best what you want and you should do what makes you happy

The controller on ps5 and 3D audio! I also have both but every none exclusive runs better on series X. Just in love with the ps5 controller and the audio chip in the ps5.

If you want better games, get the ps5. You have time to save up for a Series X before its next gen titles start dropping. Right now, all of their games are still playable on Xbox One. The only ones I'm aware of are Starfield, Elder Scrolls and something else. None have release dates yet, just 2023 release windows that could very well be pushed.

Bought a ps5 earlier in the year pretty much collected dust until their was an exclusive worth playing. Also wasn’t impressed by how you had to pay to upgrade a ps4 game to ps5 which Xbox does automatically. Game pass is a steal for trying out new games. Performance wise they’re the same which is just under a mid range Pc.

For $120 you can get ps ultimate and get all the exclusives for free . Death stranding, Spider-Man, demons souls and more . Ps5 is decent everything plays at a slightly lower resolution under pressure where series X has a bit more power to stay closer to 4K . Ps5 went slightly less powerful for more features like the controller and 3D audio and a fast SSD .

Xbox have a lot of studios working in the background right now. They will come good with new IPs and exclusives. Just a case of being patient. Sony have their sequels that they churn out that are getting alittle long in the tooth. How many more uncharted games or last of us games can you remaster? Think the golden age of Sony exclusives has passed now. But you go with what you feel.

I have no loyalty to either brand.Iv had every console both companies have put out and iv liked them all...I absolutely loved the 360 thought it was a brilliant console over the ps3,I thought ps4 was better overall than the one but One X was the best "console" of it's gen for power and design....This Gen iv experienced both and have to say Xbox has a brilliant feather in it's cap with Game pass,it's library of backwards compatible games is brilliant....but...I didn't spend £500 to play xbox one/360 games,HALO dissapointed and I'm not a huge FORZA fan.Im not saying there bad games but if they hadn't been free on game pass i wouldn't have bought them.PS5 has for me so far been the more attractive console, yeh it has a loud design but it feels Next(this) Gen.HORIZON,GOD OF WAR have been brilliant i also enjoyed RATCHET AND CLANK AND RETURNAL. For Me and I do stress that this is my opinion. Playstation 5 is better at this moment in time will that change...possibly...but right now my money would be with Sony...I don't like console wars buy and be happy with what YOU want, everyone has a different opinion.

Is the pS5 loud or is it silent like the XSX?

1

clipper37 t1_j2jl524 wrote

It is very slightly louder than the Series X but it's NOWHERE near the jet engine that PS4 was🤣. The SERIES X is extremely silent and I'd say the PS5 purrs along during gameplay, noise on both is more with disc games with ps5 a little louder again .No doubt that SERIES X wins the noise battle but it's not a big enough issue to sway an argument either way...

Some PS5s have a coil whine noise but it's slight if you get it at all.

IIIIKNOIIII OP t1_j2jloyo wrote

That sounds good, it’s quit a hard decision haha. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth buying the PS5 just for the exclusives alone.

clipper37 t1_j2jmkc7 wrote

I think the one thing at the moment is the PS5 exclusives are what id call "console selling" where as I don't think XBOX has a title it could box with a SERIES X to push it's console sales(game pass is there sales point)..but like i said as good as game pass is and it is good...£500 is alot of money to play 360 and ONE games..again all just my opinion.

1

IIIIKNOIIII OP t1_j2jmrmq wrote

No I totally agree , I don’t really want to play older games and I’m not the biggest of halo fans either

Well if you take both of those into account id say the decision at the moment kind of makes itself. If I was still in sales, given the information you have just given id steer you towards a PS5 but it's your money to spend not mine......unless your offering?🤣

Amelia210192 t1_j2hubne wrote

Personally and not to be a dick - probably should have thought about this pre-purchase of the Xbox. If you sell up you’ll lose value which isn’t what you want ultimately. Having said that you are missing out on exclusives and you’re reducing your gaming experience because of that. It would be a personal choice. It also depends on your financial situation, if you can afford to save and pay for a ps5 then do that and keep the Xbox in the event that you’ll want to play exclusives on the Xbox. Additionally you can use the gamepass and psnow to open up more “free” games that you can play at any point (as long as they’re in the library) At present deadspace is on gamepass for free as well as the fable games… there are others as well and it’s seeming good for what it is. In terms of ps you have castlevania, ps1 games like Toy Story, demon souls and you have other really good games on psplus

Someone_Sunset_Me t1_j2hy1sj wrote

No , PlayStation is a glorified 3rd person movie player machine .

Xbox has gamepass , smart delivery, and a way better outlook in 2023 and the future. Sony is moving towards live service games as Xbox is expanding their library to offer multiple choices from each genre . Not milk the franchises to death with Remakes. Just wait for spider man 2 and / or wolverine

So, about Gears of War Ultimate, Halo Masterchief Collection, Fable Anniversary...

Funny how you claim the company that are milking franchises to death in the last few years have gone in heavily on new IPs that have received critical and commercial acclaim like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Returnal, Spider-Man, completely rebooted one of their biggest franchises (God of War), and released only the first sequels to The Last of Us and Horizon, all the while Microsoft have given Gears 5, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo 8.

Cherry picking info is fun though, isn't it?
