Both great but I tend to use my Series x a lot more. Probably due to game pass and halo. I find the selection on gamepass slighter better than my ps premium subscription.

But it would probably come down to what games you like playing. PS has some great single players if you’re in to that. Ghost, Death Stranding, Returnal, Horizon, Spider-Man etc.

Xbox has gamepass which is incredible value. Ps5 has fantastic single player games.

There is no bad choice, both consoles have almost the same library of games, both deliver a great experience and both are reliable enough to provide you with new games for the next 5-7 years. PlayStations advantages are that it has some amazing mostly single player gaming experiences, games like the last of us and Spider-Man spring to mind and it”s controller has some advanced features like haptic triggers and a speaker that can enhance your gaming experience, it will also have a VR headset release in the next month or so if you are interested in that further down the road. The Xbox advantages are a generally better and more open system with features like quick resume (let’s you pick up from a game exactly where you ended your session) and great support for older games, you can even play arcade games and older PlayStation, Nintendo and Sega games on it. Gamepass is the biggest reason to get an Xbox, this gives you a newly released game on average every 10 days with all Xbox produced games included, it’s a subscription service like Netflix but tends to work out to be the yearly cost of about 2-3 full priced games and is ridiculous value. Overall I play my Xbox much more than my PlayStation due to Gamepass, this service has enabled me to discover lots of great games that I would have had no interest in playing if I had to pay for them individually, the PlayStation gets used when a particular exclusive comes out that I’m interested in.

I own a ps5 digital and series S. I buy games digitally exclusively.

A big plus point for the Xbox beyond game pass is that you can use a VPN to buy digital games from foreign stores and use them on your home country profile.

An advantage of the ps5 was the additional compatible nvme is cheaper than the proprietary nvme for the Xbox.

Disadvantages of xbox

I have had to replace 1 Xbox controller and fix another for stick drift issues

The correct answer is probably getting the console most of your friends play. Honestly think this will be the last gen of traditional consoles.

Both of them are good choices. In my case, I tend to play more on my Series X due to GP and the digital library I own, but it's up to you.

Xbox if you really plan to play on GP. PS if the exclusives and Japanese games are more important to you.

The answer lies in the games. Check what exclusive games and features both consoles have to offer and make your decision based on that. After all, you're buying a console to play video games.

I know this is r/consoles but have you considered a PC? You'd likely get the best of both worlds (Gamepass and some Sony Exclusives)

Back on topic though, our household has a PS5 and a Series X, the PS5 barely gets switched on and I'm pretty sure it's because of Gamepass, though the PS5 does have some great exclusives and I massively prefer the controller.

Own both, Use the Series X much more, Gamepass is great. The PS5 has not yet been opened and is still in its delivery carton up in my loft. Nothing on it that i want to play yet.

I had the series x for two years before getting a PS5. If I could only have one, I’d get a PS5. The exclusives are just too good. And the games on PS plus aren’t bad imo

I have both, but my advise would be which ever one’s controller feels best for you. No point in buying one and you hate the controller….

I use the Xbox more due to game pass and PlayStations constant updates… yeah I know they fix things in the games but when you get half an hour to yourself, turn it on and it wants to update it’s just infuriating!

Also with gamepass I can play on the pc and steam deck with progress saving between them all.

I used to use the ps5 as my main console, switching to series x as my main one now. The ps5 is great but the backwards compatibility of the series x makes me go back to it more often. It also has more 120fps titles which is cool.

The only question you should be asking is whether you want to play the PS5 exclusives or not. I have both and can attest that the Xbox has an overall superior system not only because of gamepass but also quick resume, smart delivery and seamless retrocampibility of most hardware and software. That being said, the PS5 exclusives should be enough to tip the scale in Sony’s favor for most people though, but this is highly personal.

Ps 5 is much bigger but have ghost of Tsushima and last of us ! Xbox have game pass (imagine getting starfield , Diablo 4[if acquisition pass] , new or any Bethesda/acti game for small monthly fee instead of £65 each) but ps5 can switch off crossplay and find lobbies. Tough decision. If you don’t mind multiplayer games , I would pick up series x as it probably will age better due to more powerful hardware and game pass will keep you occupied even if you don’t have idea what you would like to play.
