Series S is better

Honestly the One S. The Series S has no disc drive which means you're physical 360 games will be unavailable to play without repurchase and you won't be able to buy cheap 2nd hand games.

Plus while the Series S lets you play newer stuff there's still so many games that the One S will give you, and you guys likely don't care about the newest and greatest if you've got a 360 nowadays as your current.

Dude a massive chunk of games even in game pass only allow xcloud streaming and cannot be installed, that's only going to increase as we go through this gen.. One s would be an utter waste of money

I might get an Xbox Series S because if I get game pass then most of the Xbox 360 games would be on there and if they aren’t then I’m still not throwing away the 360 because then I’ll just play them (very confusing but I think you understand what I’m saying)

I've literally never seen a single game that I can't install from gamepass, but that's besides the point since if playing through the cloud you could use the one S (he'll you can use a phone).

Plus you're assuming they have Gamepass, and someone whose still using a 360 likely doesn't. I'm also assuming they don't want to or can't spend a lot easily on gaming so they may not get gamepass.

Erm you what? lots of games are current gen only, deathloop, flightsim even rancher 2... I'm not going to give the full list but there are lots of titles that are no longer installable on xbox one consoles and that will keep on going up.. So don't give incorrect information. And cloud is utter bunk at the moment.

You said games are only xcloud and can't be downloaded, you didn't say they can't be downloaded on the previous gen or mention gens at all in relation to the cloud. Games being cloud only and current gen only are 2 different statements.

Thought that was obvious as it was in direct response to saying get a one s.. Either way I'm sure it is now

Series S, no doubt

Series S definitely.

Not worth it to buy a last gen console now especially with the Series S available, they won't be supporting last gen for much longer I feel.

I got a Series S and it was a great choice!

Imma get an Xbox Series S because if it doesn’t support most of the old games we have we will just play both, the Series S and the 360. Thanks for the advice everyone :D

Get the one s it has more storage, a disk drive and it plays 360 games too

I’d go with the one s for the same reasons the other guy stated. if you’re super tech savvy I saw a video saying if you change the storage on a one x it’s actually a way better console than a series s and would still be cheaper.

The series s is definitely better than a one x. Of course it would not be worth recommending for someone with disks, but CPU and Ssd are much better and no external drive will beat the higher framerates you're getting on a series s. One x runs at a higher resolution so in that sense, it's better but it usually runs at half the framerate.

Beginning-Mammoth850 t1_j5nvi4t wrote

Yeah I get what you mean. The video I saw actually replaced the internal drive and put the OS on it. Their point was that the one x had games improved specifically for it, So it ran better on most games, had the higher resolution and was now just as quick. where as the series s is in a weird middle ground where some of the games perform like trash because they made them with series x in mind and unless you’re playing games like Warzone with a very heavy cpu load they said it the cpu didn’t really make a difference.

Nevgongiveyouup t1_j5o5jx0 wrote

I see your point, but i feel like the Video might have been a bit biased, because CPU does often matter a lot. There are of course instances where series s runs at below 1080p but it usually runs at 60 fps or at least stable 30. An example of CPU differences is Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. It has a 1080p Performance mode on series s and on one x and on series s it's locked 60, while it is 35-50 on one x.

Xbox one s for sure 1. It has 1 tb of storage 2.it still has access to most excluding deathloop, slime rancher 2 and metal hell slinger from what I recall

Wise_Writing t1_j5ohrly wrote

Flight simulator, monkey Island, phantom abyss, plague tale requiem, scorn, medieval dynasty, slime rancher 2, deathloop, Shipbreaker, metal hell slinger, immortality, this war of mine, F1 2021, mlb the show, crusader Kings 3, shredders, serious Sam 4, rift breaker, recompile,... Granted many you may not want to play, although this is just the game pass list.. If you wan hogwarts thats not for xbox one gen, or dead space remaster.. There's loads on the horizon that are not coming to the last gen.. So my message to the original poster... Don't buy a xbox one.. Its quite simple

Wise_Writing t1_j5nowcc wrote

What good is that storage if the one s won't install new games? One s is now a streaming box for so many titles and xcloud is shite

Xcloud when I used it was great except for a few bugs. I have used both one s and series s and one s has most of the features that series s excluding quick resume and like you said downloading the newer games but new games are some times underwhelming. You can still download great games like dishonored 1 and 2, halo infinite and many multi-player games on the one s

Wise_Writing t1_j5nx2ew wrote

Also that quick resume is one of the best features of Series consoles, love it on my series... doesnt always work (im looking at you Halo) but when it does its such a fantastic feature

Wise_Writing t1_j5nvda3 wrote

Xcloud is still obviously a beta product and not fully realised. The experience is real hit and miss. Some titles stream well with out too much latency others are a shit show. It suffers real bad from artifacts, and low resolution and when that latency is bad its not playable. To be fair xcloud does have a future but MS are holding it back, to unleash it fully would obliterate xbox sales, and to unleash it fully is very expensive.. They are not ready yet to do that yet... For the best cloud gaming experience geforcenow is the best in town.. What plays on there is only bettered on a 2k gaming pc, but there's just not enough titles for most people. Expensive as well at 20 per month for the tier most would want.

Why not a used One X? 4K & a disk drive.

I was wondering this as well but I think the next gen only titles would make it pointless
