I agree, she was terrifying, but now I have a deeper understanding. What a wonderful set of fairy tales...

What was the creature about?
Kabourek4 OP t1_irjaiaa wrote
The Groke is a lonely creature attracted by every source of light, because she costantly looks for some warmth.
Wherever she stands, the ground below her freezes and plants and grass die, as well as everything she touches: that's why everyone fear her and run away, even though the Groke only seeks friendship and warmth

I'm always forgetting that the Groke has a different name in my country, and I get confused when I see it being called Groke.
Kabourek4 OP t1_irjhxen wrote
How's she called in your country? In mine she was "La Morra"
SupercudakPl t1_irjia8a wrote
"Buka", it sounds menacing but idk why
LetMeSignUpGodDamn t1_irjsql9 wrote
In Sweden she is called "Morran". Rougly translated to "Growler".

if I remember correctly Tove Jansson (Moomin's creator) created the Groke to represent Winter Depression - the sadness, cold, and overwhelming darkness that the winter months bring in the northern part of the world.
And like OP said, everyone fears her, but all she wants is warmth, light and friendship. Something she will never have.

Looks like, she's attracted to that tree, cos a dog peed on it and she just realised, yuck !!.

This looks like someone gave Grimace the Joker gritty origin story treatment. I can almost hear the double slow cover version of a song in a minor key to make it sound spooky.
“Two all beef patties….”
(Grimace voiceover) Ronald never appreciated me…
“Special sauce, lettuce cheese …”
Maybe he’ll see things a bit different now.
“Pickle, onions ….”
Narrator voice: Grimace isn’t lovin it, anymore.
