Easily one of the more unnerving parts of lotr. I still hold a special place in my heart for the mines or moria though. When I first read about that I was prone to staying up late reading after everyone else had gone to bed. Alone in a silent, dark world. Reading about the drums in the deep....in a still world, alone.

My favourite shot in the whole trilogy is when Gandalf illuminates the enormity of Moria. From the books I was expecting 'big', but I wasn't expecting that.

That whole sequence is amazing, from the first realisation that Gollum is following them, right to the Bridge. Serious respect for the unfairly-maligned Orlando Bloom for portraying the terror an elf would feel on hearing the word "Balrog".

2

I suppose so, yes. Most times photos are called photos over art, or not credited at all.

I also don't want this to be a real photo

1

ReillyDarkArt t1_ithrmmb wrote

My apologies, I genuinely thought your last message was sarcasm lol. These artists tend to end up on reddit alot, often with no credit. Thought I'd do my service and locate the correct artist!

I would hate for something like this to be a real photo , straight out of lord of the rings or something

1

Nevanada t1_itib17i wrote

Fair enough lol, the 'color me surprised" comment is often used in sarcastic ways, I was more aiming for the pun aspect of it. And good on you for getting the source!

Bodies don't decay the same underwater as they do on the surface. They're surprisingly well preserved since maggots can't enter and mold can't grow. The eyes are usually the first to go since fish feed off them, but the rest of the skin remains mostly intact. Slimey, but intact.

I didn't notice that. However you don't have to be an expert in photoshop in order to figure out what photos look like someone tinkered with them and adding something extra to them. It's all good!

Johnson carries a .45.

It’s not a bad neighborhood. My parents let me stay out after dark and I’ll do the same if the good lord ever blessed me and the missus with the latter of little feet.

No, Johnson’s old hole puncher only ever sees use in the winter. That’s when the ice forms, nice and thick, over the lake. When we go fishing.

Ice has been getting thinner recently. Older days you had to bring a five foot drill, now we just bring a hammer. A big hammer, the kind used for breaking concrete. The neighbors always laugh, make jokes about “compensating”.

The neighbors haven’t seen what’s under the ice. You can hear it at night sometimes, the scrabble of bony fingers just below the surface. Or you could, back when the ice was thicker.

Johnson carries a .45.

I think it’s about time I do the same.
