I agree. At least do multiples of ten in the images. Poorly done which takes away from the message.
Embarrassed_Alarm450 t1_j7jzfrn wrote
Is it even accurate either? If you follow the key there's 18 hearts = 3600 then 5 'stripes' in the other heart for 50, total death toll is 3650 according to that but it says 3700??

Shitty visualization. Why do people post such crap here?

This data is NOT beautiful.
Priority #1 is readability.
benji-21 t1_j7jm7yo wrote
It’s an awful tragedy but this doesn’t do a very good job of representing the data.
The stripes condense the information tidily, but goes against the very point you’re trying convey - the extent of life lost.
The way you’ve presented this minimises the loss of life, if anything.
perkail t1_j7ktg2i wrote
Just why?! What the fuck has any of this got to do with anything. It’s a tragedy not a ducking chance at internet points.
And hearts?! Fucking hearts!!! This is seriously more insensitive then if you had used squashed bug emojis

There are babies dead. Parents who have lost children. 3 year olds that no longer have a mom or home. Pets crushed. Families who have lost everything. People who can no longer even log on to look at something like this because they don't have a computer. But it's super pretty, I'm totes going to put it on my Facebook and pray /s
Like fuck off with trying to go viral with tragedy.

You may want to just delete the post. I'll give you an A for effort but effort doesn't have an A in it. Not everything needs a visual representation. If this has a comparison maybe it would be cool. It's just an awkward graphic.

Any reputable funds live yet? A little nervous to give straight to Turkey after all those “earthquake tax” funds went to Erdrogan and his homies
Lebenskrankheit t1_j7m9wuw wrote
There is ahbap.org its non-government and the most reputable organization for this.
HotNubsOfSteel t1_j7mabzj wrote
Thanks for that, I’ll check them out

I quite like the style, but as others mentioned, you can't really visualize the 3700,you have to count

Im sorry but please don’t make this about racism. It’s clearly being downvoted because it’s a poor graphic that doesn’t properly demonstrate the true magnitude of the 3700 lives lost
Embarrassed_Alarm450 t1_j7jzoyt wrote
The entire front page is talking about the tragedy and one bad infographic getting downvoted is racist to you? Idiots like you are just downplaying what racism actually is.
DiabloSixSixtySix t1_j7j9snh wrote
That sounds like exactly what you're doing: Imagining
thunderBerrins t1_j7jennw wrote
People are brainwashed to see racism and prejudice in absolutely everything these days. It’s exhausting.

I get what this is trying to do but it doesn’t help visualize the number 3700 at all.
