What's astroturfing?

Astroturfing is paying people to pretend to care about a certain issue or have a certain opinion on a product or things like that, so it gives the impression that it is popular. Like when a politician pays people to come to their rallies, or pays fake protestors to show up where their rivals are, or pays people to tweet or leave reddit comments or make Facebook posts promoting something.

Like when Disney releases Andor, the millionth Star Wars tv show, and everyone on the sub is subscribed to Disney + and loves the show. I'm sure some people like it, but the amount of attention its getting is ridiculous. Or when Paramount+ launched and every comment seemed to highlight the support for 4k content... as if every other service didn't already have that or as if people really cared enough to mention it in the comments they were making. That one was belligerent.
