Very beautiful and technically well done.

Though as a joint map AND history nerd I'm obliged to say that with the addition of Myanmar and the exclusion of Sri Lanka, this is actually a map of the old British Raj, not the Indian Subcontinent.

Why are the plains colored white and the mountains colored green? Most of the green part on this map is mountains of Nepal and India.

It's a topographical map, which traditionally use colour to represent elevation, darker colours usually being higher and lighter colours being lower.
