I'm sorry but I don't think this belongs in the sub. This is just a pie chart, and not a particularly well-executed one at that. Why are misses and saves distinguished in the pie chart but then lumped together into one percentage? Why not include the other percentages from your data source (shots that hit the frame and shots that missed entirely)?

The separate percentages for "Saved by goalkeeper" and "Missed" are there. You just have to look very, very hard for them.

there is no way i would have noticed that without this comment. i can't believe they're actually there.

Holy shit. I looked for five minutes, got annoyed that you guys were just joking, read your comment again and gave it another shot. They are actually there.

The coolest thing about penalty kicks is that on average, the xG of the chances before a foul in the box normally averages out to be ~80%. Meaning that penalties come from fouls or infractions that would've resulted in a goal 80% of the time. The fact that they have an 80% success rate means they are the perfect penalty for a foul in those locations!

change "Missed" for "Harry Kane" and I won't say this shouldn't be posted in this sub

Iirc the success rate used to be below 70%, interesting.

I'd assume this is why players overdramatize collisions.

Can I request you do the same thing but with regular shots in game? I'm just going to predict PKs are more effective

Edit, not saying this to be critical of the sport!

Soccer has a running clock, so the only opportunity for players to take a few seconds to stop and breathe is when a player gets “injured.” That’s the main reason behind flops and overdramatized collisions. If you’re able to convince a ref to give another player a yellow or red card, or earn a PK, that’s a bonus.

That's what I mean- it seems like getting a PK provides a huge bonus for that team, especially if all PKs have an 80% scoring average.

So…. This chart is wrong! And maybe the sources too.

100% of all the shots taken, exist only within the bounds of the game. Without context, they are naught but anomalies of physics.

At ~80% success penalty kicks are just about the dumbest thing in sports.

In football, they're great for breaking tournament ties. Don't know about other sports, but diving is by far the dumbest thing about football.

In the 2021 NFL season, just over 85 percent of field goal attempts were successful.

20-21 NBA? 78.5% of free-throws! So stupid!
