Yeah what we need is a book that endorses slavery, burning people alive, and stoning people to death. And killing family members if they don't follow the same religion.

I've read it. Multiple times. What's wrong with the summary? A religion cannot be both good, and allow for rape, murder, genocide, and slavery. No amount of time changes that.
