Hello all,

I'm looking for someone (1 man, team, doesn't matter) that can make a real estate related project.

The project itself: a NN that you can give a document regarding some house/ apartment and based on the document the NN should give out an estimated price/ price range.

So, you get a document with pics (from which the NN should determine if and how well its furnished, and its current state: brand new, used, old and broken, etc.), livable surface (how many square meters/ m2 it has, how many m2 each room has), address, if it's furnished or not, etc. and the NN should somehow check all other similar housings in the area/ neighbourhood/ city (online probably, but another NN for data extraction could also be made) and then give an adequate price.

I have a friend that wants this implemented and will start looking for funding in 2 days. He asked me to give an estimated deadline and price range so that he knows what he'll be presenting.

Edit: Excuse my late reply but things were quite hectic in the past few weeks. To all those that took the time to reply: thank you very much for analysing and thinking it out. In the end, I found a small Greek ML company that was excited about the project and we entered deeper discussions. All the best to everyone and hopefully we might partner up for other projects in the future! :)

Any thoughts? Any takers?

Edit: I forgot to mention. My friend knows some pretty high people in businesses that provide services to 100s or even 1000s of customers per month, so we won't be talking about breadcrumbs.

There are a lot of unknowns in your description.

  1. Is document format always the same and can you simply extract features from document?
  2. What is the maximum error you can afford
  3. What is your computational resources? Depending on that price of the final work may vary from couple grand to hundreds of million dollars.

I updated my post: a small team was excited to take on the task. Thank you for your implication though and have a great day! :)

people saying this might cost a million dollars ist overshot in my opinion - if you have a dataset with at least 10k houses (10x that would be optimal) and the document stays the same i‘d say youre looking at around 30 to 100 k dollars

Now you are receiving some requirements like mse < 100 dollars for your estimation and you also have to predict houses on country which is absolutely not represented in dataset. On top of that, you “might” need to run this model on mobile phone to make inference. To pass those requirements you probably need entire research group and a lot of trial and error. 1 Million is significant underestimation here if you don’t know requirements.

in that case you would be right, but those requirements are bogus and far off from reality

I'll keep you up to date once things get more momentum. ;)

Giving an estimate without knowing the quality of data and the quantity of data seems impossible, but it could go anywhere from about 10k to more than a million depending on what is expected and with what one would work
