I have been to many, just none within the US, I guess this is an American thing. Wouldn’t see this at an Aussie Barbie

Watermelon is definitely a summer season/hot weather fruit common at American barbecues, but it is not specifically a thing to have it served on the same plate at the same time. Mostly people just pick up slices and eat them immediately, the melon slice never seeing the plate.
