The french "Baba au rhum" is with custard inside and no apricot, and is soaked in rhum... Quite rare in France these days, as it must be sold (and eaten) quickly after prepare. There was plenty in bakeries when I was younger ;)

There is custard inside. The apricot is a light glaze on the outside - it pairs well with the rum.
