I use the exact same method and I've found it turns out steaks better than any steakhouse I've been to.

I'd smash that garlic up a bit (although I like way too much garlic).

Amazing. My preference is to take the flat of a knife and crush the garlic cloves open before putting them in the pan so I can brush the steak with them.

Just curious, did you follow Andy’s steak video from Bon Appetit? That’s how I cook my steaks now and this looks super close to that method.

Based on the size if those are ribeyes then that pan has to be at least 2' wide

But also they don't have the fatty chunk in the center, no ribeye lip.
