I'm thinking english isn't their first language. Or they are from a place like Australia where they speak englsih but had weird names for things.

Because I've never heard of somebody call that anything other than a steak.

I mean, true. He went with a cut. Often times someone will say fillet, ribeye, strip, flank, etc. This looks like a NY strip.
