Nope. Finishing salt would not be as effective at seasoning a dish, and the coarse kosher salt I use to season a dish would not be as good for finishing. I get that you want to write it off as just wanky and expensive but maybe have an open mind. I use Maldon salt when I want to really emphasize the salt flavor (usually to offset/compliment sweetness) and add a very specific bit of crunchy texture to a dish. It’s expensive but you use very little of it.

I use Maldon salt too. It’s the “finishing” name which is wanky. But then again 99.999% of social media is about showing off these days so…makes sense.

It's literally what the restaurant calls it. I'd never even heard of finishing salt. Whatever, I'm not after karma. Just like to share and see people's comments.
