Jalebis are Indian desserts made by deep-frying a wheat flour (maida flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup.

Recipe differs from region to region, some use ghee.

This has made me miss our Indian neighbours when we grew up. Mrs Gani knew fine well she made too much and would need to ‘offload’ some onto her poor white, Scottish neighbours. Lovely family and incredible food. Thanks for the memories!
