How'd you prepare the broccoli? The steak and mac and cheese look great.

Forget the steak and broccoli, just give me a 9x13 pan of that Mac and cheese and nobody gets hurt
Somethingfishy_92 OP t1_ixvzqb0 wrote
Cook the steaks and finish them with some garlic and parsley compound butter, then when they are resting add a bit more of the butter to the same pan and fry the broccoli until a bit charred, then add a splash of water and cover to steam until cooked through.

Might be a UK/English thing - what do you call them?

Broccolini - Midwest US

Either brocolini or broccoli raab/rabe
Waitingforabluebox t1_ixwgsh9 wrote
Broccoli rabe is different than broccolini. They look very similar, but broccoli rabe (also called rapini) is more bitter.
mhofkp t1_ixwji1b wrote
True. In my professional career rapini is sold primarily sold as a green, not as a whole stalk, per se... I actually cooked some Raab on Thanksgiving, and I love the bitterness

It’s called broccolini in Aus, tenderstem sounds British so why ours sounds Italian idk

For real, a nice steak is great and all but it's not everyday you see a nice looking mac and cheese like that.

In The Netherlands it's called Bimi.

Nooit van gehoord

Dat kan, ik ben er ook nog niet zo heel lang mee bekend. Toch is het tegenwoordig in elke zichzelf respecterende supermarkt verkrijgbaar.

Looks good! Don't you just love those little Dutch oven dishes?

Broccolini here in my part of the US too. Tenderstem sounds like an insult from an old western film.

I second that 👌

Call it tenderstem again see what happens
Cam_Sco t1_iy093jw wrote
Tenderstem is a registered trademark in the UK. Same thing though. Hybrid of Chinese kale and broccoli.

Gotcha never been to the UK, but I've cooked all across the states...

I’m Irish so Mac n cheese would be a rare accompaniment to steak here. The American influence can be seen in some steak restaurants where it’s served but it’s not traditional, and the idea of pasta as a side dish still doesn’t jive with me! But it all looks very well made and really tasty so I’m sure u impressed !!

Haha thank you for the offer, the date night was with my girlfriend of 9 years though so don’t pin your hopes on it!
