Then should I use the browser version of it? Or it does the same?

It's only a ~200mhz underclock and a fix is on the way. Article also only mentions 3080 and 3060ti. Pretty sure 99% of gamers wouldn't even have noticed.

Why am I not surprised?

Windows does not have enough concern separation if this is even possible.

Its a 200MHz reduction in memory clocks, highly unlikely you will notice any difference.

Edit: I don't know why I'm being downvoted, 200MHz on memory clocks is really not a significant difference. It's like 6800MHz instead of 7000MHz. We're talking, maybe, 1% performance loss.

Nevermind that it only seems to be affecting some 30-series cards.

It shouldn't happen, but since Nvidia were made aware, they published a fast temporary fix and a permanent fix is already on the way.

Well well, finally an explanation for why I am trash on so many games! I’m glad that’s solved.

It’s not the fact it’s insignificant, it’s the fact they’re causing an issue like this at all. Also 6800/7000 is a 2.9% loss of memory performance, because math.

That’s why you’re getting downvoted.

Discord had a significant impact on gpu hashrate back when I first got mining ⛏️ with my gpu in 2021 so I’m not surprised

I do notice occasional stuttering frame drops on my 3060 when I have discord open. I downgraded my drivers thinking it was that but nope. Noticed no such thing when exiting discord so I guess that answers that.

It’s an Nvidia bug when polling the status of the GPU. One of the discord engineers already chimed in on the hackernews post.

If this is true this bug would be counteracting another rbug I'm experiencing, where my memory clocks never idle lol.

Ive known Discord lags for no reason for long time and I didnt need anyone or articles to tell me. I recently got a new PC but for the last few years Ive been using a FX-8350 with a Nvidia 1060TI. Any time I opened Discord, there was a strong chance it would lag the entire system for a moment or occasionally just lock everything up. Whats really fun was when you are playing a game with your friend, in the middle of a raid, and discord decides it needs to run more background services for animated emoji's or god knows what, and triggers this shit, and then you die cause LAG... then the rest of the group I was raiding with dies cause, I was the tank. I remember when Discord was a lightweight VoIP, no animated emoji's, no video players, no streaming BS and it just good'ol fashion worked.

Of course not, but to say it’s 1% performance hit is just as much a random guess based on that guy being cool with voice software causing clock issues on GPUs, which it should NEVER do. If you’re running memory bandwidth constrained tasks it absolutely can be MORE than 2.9% if you’re starving the GPU.
