I may not be an expert on comedy but I'm like 99.9% sure that was a joke.

And a pretty decent one. I'll explain. The joke hinges on the fact that those colors have names that relate to things burning, like burnt orange, or smoke gray. Or the end result of burning, charcoal.

And that's a joke.
