It was awhile ago (10+ years), but I swear I remember seeing an article on full sized sex dolls that mimic their partner to some extent, so you could technically have sex over the internet. I think another idea was to be able to link it up to porn and it would mimic one of the people while the video played.

So it probably does exist but in its current form is to expensive for the average joe, but people are still working on making it more robust and affordable to the general public.

I don't get this sentiment. If you feel this way about it, you're not going to buy one. If two other people use it, that's their business and they are going to use it in their own private way. I'm no psychologist, but I imagine that thing can't be good for people who struggle with loneliness or other mental health problems. Just like things like Replika and those weird animatronic sex dolls, it seems to me like it's specifically designed to prey on those people.

Besides, it is absolutely creepy. It's basically a disembodied robot mouth; what about that isn't creepy? That doesn't mean I'm criticizing people who would use it.

The fact that this keeps going back to sex toys really just proves my point. Not to criticize anyone for using them, but this thing isn't supposed to be a sex toy.

Also, no; my concern is that this is pretty clearly designed to target people who already struggle with loneliness. I guess you could make the same argument about dildos and the like, but those are designed to sit still and maybe vibrate; this thing is specifically designed to mimic the feel and motion of actual lips.
