Can you expand on this please? Pixels have had crash alert based on the location for years before iphones and also have had other location based emergency alerts (it's hidden in the settings to toggle which ones you want to get or not).

Lost hikers have been getting rescued recently using new GPS emergency SOS program on their phones. Im not sure all of the details because I dont have an iPhone. Normally, they'd be relying on something like a Garmen InReach or SPOT. I'm currently using Android with bottom of the barrel phone that'll need replacing soonish. But I dont plan to get an iphone. So, I'm hoping someone else comes out with an equivalent (or hopefully better) feature.

You're saying pixel already has this feature? Because that would be awesome. Which models? Thanks!

I'll be honest I don't think the pixels have that exact feature. It does sound very helpful for that niche. I'll have to double check on the newer pixels, I'm still rocking a 4XL that has location based alerts but not an SOS feature.

No, pixels cannot access satellites. They rely on mobile communication towers.

It's a good feature that can be a lifesaver when hiking/ in remote regions, so adding that is a good addition for a p8.
