My battery is sitting at 68% original capacity last I checked. But the quick charge helps boost it along throughout the day.
There are features I wish I had like dual speaker stereo sound, or wireless charging. But I agree, pretty much everything on this phone is still bomb. Can't complain to much. I got it on sale with a discount for $280 back in the day. I'm in no rush to upgrade

There's an app called AccuBattery by Digibites. Charging my phone from below 15% to 100% a few times gave it enough data to determine my battery capacity is around 68% of the original design

That's what made me switch from Xiaomi to Samsung. I had a poco F1 until I upgraded it to the F3 (F1 is still going strong, gave it to my stepdad after replacing the battery) but the software experience was dreadful. Updates were few and far between, and I had an issue with notification bubbles being cut in half that was really annoying, and all the dev blogs said it was a known issue, and a fix would come "soon".
Had 0 software issues with my S21, I complain about the battery a lot, but I knew what I was buying because I wanted a small phone. Already on android 13, and Samsung releases updates regularly, last one somehow made my cameras a bit better, believe it or not! Only thing I miss is the macro mode I had on the poco F3, that the regular S21 does not have.

So far the only issue I had with Xiaomi was that I would break the charging port after a few years and then would attempt to change it myself. On Redmi note 3 I ordered the wrong piece but I only learned about it when the same thing broke on Redmi note 7. If I noticed it I might have still been using that phone. The phones are cheap but good although they prob last somewhere between 3 to 5 years. Redmi note 3 lasted me for 3 years,7 is around 3 and still going. I don't really have a reason to upgrade and the phone is still running alright.

Yeah, ordering parts for xiaomi phones is a pain in the ass because they release about 378 billion different models every year, who all are similarly named, like mi 10, redmi 10, redmi note 10, then pro/lite variants, then for some reason they introduced the t models, there's the regular t, there's the t Pro, fucking hell...

Hmm maybe it was a software issue for me then if they just drop the ball after a while.
I had the One and it worked great until one day it just ran hot all the time. The battery would empty really fast when used or only last a few hours idling. I eventually changed the battery myself but still the same, the CPU was always under load and hot.
I moved on from OnePlus because their entire thing was being a flagship killer at cheaper prices but every phone from them kept getting more expensive until they just became what they were supposed to beat.
I loved that phone though. The sandstone texture case was nice in the hand, I found it easy to use and responsive.

That is my true complaint with OnePlus. They went from flagship killer to full price flagship. The 7 pro will likely be my last because of this. I mean I'd rather a OnePlus to a Samsung for a variety of reasons.... But I'd much prefer finding a new flagship killer to paying a thousand dollars for a phone.

I just spent a few days fixing my MMS after my OnePlus 7 Pro updated to Android 12. Sure it's 3 years old, but ... that's not that old. The issue ended up being that the Messages app in the update was bugged so had to switch to the one that Google puts out on the play store.

Sounds like basically the same issue with MMS messages not working (MMS is the protocol for sending pictures in messages but they also use it for doing group messages). Solution for me was to download "Messages by Google" in the Play Store and use that as my messaging app instead - drop-in replacement and it worked.

Yo!! I think I'm dealing with exactly this right now! My messages app is insanely slow and laggy to the point where opening a conversation can take 20 seconds and there are times the things I'm typing don't show up. It also takes ages for a message to send and lord help me if I'm receiving one at the same time. If this was similar to what you went through, how did you end up fixing it? Please. It's making me feel like my phone is unusable

I was using the default messages app that came with the phone. Instead look for "Messages by google" in the play store and download that. In setting it up, you can set it as your default messaging app. Then just like, remove the shortcuts for the old one and good to go.

My op7 just got upgraded to Android 12 and is running more smoothly than newer phones. The screen quality is noticeably aging in comparison to new phones. I wish I'd gotten the pro at the time. It was like a 40 dollar difference. But it's a great phone that runs a very clean stock android with a few op touches.

I gotta admit the update to Android 12 was terrible, so unfinished and buggy but wasn't long until the 13 update and it's great again, I skipped the 10 but might for the 11 series.

I had my OnePlus 3 for 6 years. It had some issues with the camera focus in the last year not working properly, and when navigating it indicated me looking into the opposite direction sometimes, but had no issues otherwise. Even the battery hadn't gotten too bad.

From the time android 12 came out on the pixel, it took me over a year to get android 12 on my op8. There were basically no changes from android 11, and then 3 or so months later I got updated to 13. After that everything was buggy or slow. Just jumped to the 13 pro max after being with oneplus since the op3t.

I still think the 5T is the best phone ever produced, it had a perfect fingerprint scanner at the best location, sure it didn't make amazing photos or videos, but for me a phone is about being practical for it's use case. The audio quality was top notch, the GPS worked great, the screen was great, it was very flat and lasted two whole days for me for battery. I still think about that phone daily.

I have to wholeheartedly agree. Its an amazing phone with great performance. The 'gimmick' of the retractable front camera gives me a nice and clean screen.
I was forced to upgrade to the 7 Pro when my 3 broke on account of someone deciding that trying to run me over on a crosswalk would be a really good idea. Reading what others have said about the later one plus models, maybe im glad to have upgraded from the 3 early now.

i had a 7T and traded it in after 2.5 yrs because they were stupid and gave me 1000$ tradein on a fold 3. regretted it every day since. the fold3 is a shit show. the big screen is the only benefit. battery life is iffy, charges slow, cameras are terrible for a flagship phone, both screen protectors started peeling away after 8 months. and it cracked falling from a car door sill to the ground.

Well you'll definitely hate the direction OnePlus has taken now. I bought a 9 in February and dumped it in October for a Pixel 7 Pro, one of my shortest upgrade cycles ever. Too many software issues and OnePlus has shown zero competence with actually fixing the bugs. Loving the Pixel 7 Pro, I'll never buy another OnePlus (and the 9 was my first too).

Agreed... I have owned almost every OnePlus since 5. My favorites were my McLaren and Cyberpunk phones. After the battery started to go on my Cyberpunk edition I skipped to the 10Pro. Which is next level bad. I feel like they lost the " IT Factor" that made me a fan in the first place. It is absolutely garbage...
I opened the box and immediately knew I wasn't getting what I became a custom too, No Phone Case, No stickers. They didn't even have a case to sell me according to the T-Mobile store, it was too new( it was out for 2 weeks at the time).
Phone wise, the first issue was the lesser memory without the option of expanding. I couldn't even transfer all my data from my old phone onto the 10pro. I optimized my business to be able to run a lot of programs off my phone. So storage is extremely valuable. I made the mistake of not checking prior to purchasing because it was never an issue in the past.
Next is the glitches. Half the time I don't get all my messages. I can see someone's texted me but If I open the text I can't read it. I have issues sending emails with attachments. OnePlus has tried to fix it a few times and if it works it's for a week until it's back to its normal bs. If my hands are slightly wet the screen flips out compared to my old phones.
I feel like the cost has gone up and we are getting a lesser product. ** This is prior to the inflation we are currently experiencing**.
I'm curious if the 11 is going back to what made us fans in the first place or should I jump ship and go with a Pixel?

Go with the Pixel. I dumped my OnePlus 9 for a Pixel 7 Pro and the only thing I miss from the OnePlus is the stupid fast charging (the 7 Pro gets to 50% in 30 minutes but takes around 1h50m to hit 100% while the 9 charged to 100% somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on what the phone was doing while it was charging). Oh and the fingerprint sensor is strangely terrible sometimes and great other times but it's not a big bother for me really.

Back when the OnePlus was originally designed (the original OnePlus 1), you had a flagship killer at half the price. The value proposition was insane, and you got a TON of extra software on top (fingerprint scanner, actually good screen unlock patterns, shortcuts on screen) that were years ahead of other phones. Was great.
Somewhere along the line, things shifted away from custom and starting looking more and more stock, and the value kept diminishing and diminishing. There’s no reason to buy a OnePlus over an iPhone/Samsung now.
I’ve had a OnePlus 1, 2, and 6+. I personally would never get another OnePlus unless things drastically change moving forward.

I feel the same way. Plus the quality of the phones seem to have gone down. I have a OnePlus 7T and it feels solid. The OS still runs smoothly, I drop it all the time and it doesn’t break, although I have it in a silicon case which I’m sure helps. I got my Mum an 8T and it feels less sturdy. Her screen has some significant scratches, and she is far more careful than I. Given this and the increasing price, I’m also unlikely to get another OnePlus phone.

Honestly, as someone who was content and happy with the OP5, Pixel 7 is a bit too much of an upgrade for me. (Ultimately chose 7 because I found a better deal at that time.) If you can find someone who has the 5a or go in a store and try it out, that might help your decision-making.

I have an older model of this phone. I dropped it from about 2 feet with a case and the screen turned purple to black and it’s bricked. Can’t find a replacement digitizer.
I dropped an iPhone from a rollercoaster ride and it survived unscathed. Granted the back shattered about a month later, but the screen is perfect. The back isn’t too expensive, but I just threw a case on it.
Quality of more expensive (but second hand) phones are much more worth it.

My 3 and my 7 pro have both survived everything short of me directly playing it in explosives, my iphone 6 broke from the heat it was producing on its own when not even under load. Literally cracked the front and back.
But with the rising costs of 1+ I'm gonna be looking for a new brand after this one bites the dust. The allure was high end phones at mid-tier prices. They don't have that anymore.

I was absolutely in love with my 6T. Unfortunately, I recently went back to iPhone - partially for missing out on family shared albums etc…
the other was the wi-fi calling support with ATT. I was able to unlock the setting thru the dev settings - but AT&T eventually cut it. And my house has really poor service and it became very frustrating. I had option of signal amplifier - but decided against it. I pay for my parents Cell phones and changing providers had limited options and wasn’t worth the reward.
TLDR; are OnePlus phones ever going to be supported by ATT? It’s BS the rules they put in play

I've been with OnePlus since the "One" (in the days when you had to find someone on Reddit to send you an invite.
Have had the One, 3T and Nord, wife's got a 6T.
Think we'll both be moving to Pixel 7/8s when our current phones give up.
The new OnePlus phones just feel very bloaty now, have Oppo skins on them, and there are more models than I care to keep track of.
Want a decent mid range phone? Do you get the Nord 2, the Nord CE, the Nord CE 5G? Maybe you want something better - do you get the 10, 10 Pro? 10T?
They've just spread themselves too thin and stopped focusing on what made them great - a solid mid range phone at a good price with no major corners cut.
I think the Nothing Phone (1) is probably the nearest you'll get now to what OnePlus used to be - and I believe the CEO was the CEO of OnePlus before it went downhill.

Ah, bought the first OPO. It was good until it wasn’t. They don’t care about maintaining their users. You must rely on custom stuff. On the other hand I bought iPhone X. Still getting updates till now. I guess, better stick with manufacturers that care about products long term instead of “hackers”.

My OnePlus Nord n10 software bricked itself 2hrs prior to boarding an international flight. Then, miraculously, I was able to wipe it clean and get it going again.
100% software issue and many other bugs manifested. Will never but another OnePlus again

I used to like OnePlus phones but now they cost as much as a Samsung practically. Their support also ripped me off by promising me more for my trade in than they were going to give. I'm done with them.

I have a One Plus and it's the best phone I've ever had. I've had many Samsung flagship phones, they were good phones, but nothing like this one. The build quality is better, the screen is very bright and it works flawlessly. They are a great company and support their products. I'm a big fan.
Oh, and did I say mine cost more than half of the price of a flagship phone from any maker.

I had a OP5t and its been my favourite phone I ever had. I now have a Samsung S20+ 5G and its nice, but it has too much bullshit on it. The dash charger for the OP phones is super nice too. I dont keep up with tech trends very much, but I liked the OP5t so much I still recommend them as a brand. They have gotten expensive though, when I was shopping for phones earlier this year, I was kinda bummed how pricey they were. These days I buy second-hand anyway.

OnePlus have sort of lost their way, there's nothing great about any of the new phones. Looks exactly like Oppo in terms of hardware and OS, priced too close to better phones like Pixel and Galaxy S series.
There used to be a time when OnePlus offered better features at a lower price, now you get neither.

Updated my 7t to OS 12 last week. It made my phone incompatible with my carrier, Visible Wireless (a budget version of Verizon). I specifically bought the 7t two years ago because it was compatible with Visible.
Switched to Mint and having mixed results that I am fairly confident is due to similar compatibility issues. Aside from all the other reasons to drop OnePlus, I'm switching to a pixel because it's just not popular enough to have promised compatibility.

I was a OnePlus fanboy for years. But then their updates started getting shitty. I installed an update on my OP9 and it refused to connect to any carrier network unless I manually programmed it in. If I rebooted the phone it would wipe it out.
That happened two days before a vacation, so I said screw it and bought a new phone that wasn’t OnePlus. If their updates are going to be that trash then I won’t support them anymore.

I feel like the OnePlus 11 is a big sign of why I got so burnt out on following the smartphone industry. I still remember the days of the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, Xiaomi Mi3 and OnePlus One where major shake ups could still happen and everyone tried to bring something new to the table.
Now, it feels like we've figured out the formula for the perfect smartphone and everyone's just been recreating it on loop.

They peaked at the 7T Pro. I couldn't care less about the selfie camera quality/convenience and only want one for video calls. Give me a phone with a full screen display. Under screen or popup selfie camera doesn't matter, heck even the design that flips over the rear camera is fine too.

In my experience, software support for OnePlus is just downright awful. Their new phones work great until the next new phone comes out, then they basically give up on keeping features up to date with Android OS updates. The result is that the hardware and software become buggy, forcing the user to either upgrade their phone or abandon OnePlus. I suggest the latter for its user base.
