What problems were you having? My OnePlus 8 messages have been bugged so I can't participate in group messages properly

Sounds like basically the same issue with MMS messages not working (MMS is the protocol for sending pictures in messages but they also use it for doing group messages). Solution for me was to download "Messages by Google" in the Play Store and use that as my messaging app instead - drop-in replacement and it worked.
