I remember that time I found my way into Dalaran in WoW back in 2008/9 and my computer physically couldn't handle loading into the area due to the massive player count so I had to stop playing the game for 2 weeks waiting for blizzard support to get back to me and teleport me out of there.

Giant and Mammoth territories in Skyrim. Damn, I had to run all the time, worse still, never got anything cool in their area.

Ashen, a cave near the start of the game, very important one. Didnt even do first set of quests to get camp. Banging my head against wall to get through, finally make it through with basic gear, find out nothing happens just yet. No loot or gear. Fml

Everquest. Paid a guy to transport me from the lizard city to human city. Binded at human city and just had to sit around gate fighting spiders and begging for money.

The Dwemer Ruins in Skyrim. I get lost. I fucking hate the falmer. I actively avoid going there unless I have a day or two free.

The Barrens in the original WoW. Not only did it make me stop playing WoW and break ties with the people who were addicted to it, it made me realize that I hate the entire genre of MMORPGS due to them all trying to rebuild WoW's hamster wheel for perpetual subscription based churn.

Definitely not what I had envisioned when first learning of the genre in an old Electronic Gaming Monthly article on Ultima Online.
