I’m from Holland and the last time we had one that I can remember was 2017 or 2018 and it makes me sad it doesn’t exist anymore. The crowd’s mutual excitement right before midnight launch was always so special. I miss those days. 😔

Unless a country bans digital purchases... gonna guess this is a historical phenomena. I waited At midnight for every big game released 2006-2012. Then I got Steam and bought on there. Now even consoles have digital day 1.

Last time I did this was with Diablo III at the local Best Buy. It was strange because you were more than able to get it digitally, but it was just fun to go and hang out with friends and meet other people who were there.
I certainly appreciate the convenience of digital distribution, being able to preload and play right at launch and all, but those moments in person will always be cool.

Exactly. The same conveniences existed back then as well so I don’t understand what changed.

I mean, we technically can in the USA, but no one really does. At least not by me.

I think the last time I did this was for Skyrim, and the line wasn't that big.

It’s definitely still happening where I live. They still do midnight releases for Madden and shit. Never stopped here, I just got too old to justify doing that instead of picking it up after work.

I only did that twice. WoW Burning Crusade and WoW Lichking. After like 2007/2008 I stopped buying Physical Games.

I'm brazilian, we don't have the same purchasing power of north americans and europeans, few people can buy games at the time of their release regularly, so it's hard to find big crowds to buy anything.
