Yeah this is the reason I never completed OOT OR MM remakes on 3ds, and the reason I have used my switch undocked for a total of 30 minutes. Uncomfortable, and awkward to hold for any extended period.

Maybe sit up when your arms get tired?

The 2ds and 3ds seriously hurt my hands. The switch does too sometimes. I figured out I have to just sit in a chair if I wanna do it comfortably.

I have a New 3DSXL. For some reason, the form factor really made my hands cramp up if I played too long, despite never having the problem with the DS Lite. So, one of the first things I did was get a grip. Mine is the Cyber Gadget brand. There may be better ones now. Or not, I dunno, the 3DS is basically finished as a platform, right?

Anyway, the second part is trickier, and that's simply finding some method of playing. For me, I sort of rotate frequently from side to side, to back to belly, like every 20-30 minutes.

Put a pillow under your chest to help prop yourself up. That's how I game on a mobile if I'm lying down. The pillow helps take the pressure off your elbows.
