I used to play lots of multiplayer FPS games, but now? I feel like I get more value for my money with farming simulator.

Battlefield 2042 Battlefront 2 Fallout 76 Last few COD launches Cyberpunk Anthem

All these launches have been terrible, hundreds of dollars of people’s hard earned money wasted on broken games.

Don’t even get me started on the sweaty playstyle of multiplayer games now. Not everyone is XXMrSniperMeisterTTV

Combine these two issues, and I find myself not playing much anymore.

The only way the industry will learn (by which I mean the investors and the CEO’s) is if it impacts their bottom line. > The best thing you can do is just not buy them.

Not true....especially with the PC shit. Organizations like the esg and investments come with requirements now.

Hunt Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. PC game are so much better

Try some indie games;

  • Stray
  • Spiritfarer
  • Hades

Online shooters are pointless unless you play with friends. Things like WoW are best in parties. No COD can beat dungeon run with mates.

There are plenty of good games that don’t involve brain dead shooting guns. Many good RPGs and story games many indies and great strategy games.

No matter how hard developers may try, multi-player launches will always be terrible, because there will always be hundreds of thousands of people crowding limited servers. That's why you shouldn't necessarily get games like CoD on day one. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by sweaty players, do you mean players who are so much better than everyone else, or who get upset if you aren't perfect? People like that are a good portion of the reason I don't play PVP multi-player, so I hear you there.

Mostly says a lot of the games YOU like to play. Plenty of good AAA games out there. Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, RDR2, hellblade, doom, god of war, and that’s just what comes to mind there are plenty of decent games out there. Problem is people keep buying the dog shit ones so they keep making dog shit. That’s consumerism for you man. Don’t like it don’t buy it.

Sounds like it’s your problem for constantly going back to the well.

There’s plenty of other great games and you are comparing thousands of titles that launch without issues to a select few outliers

Then stop playing uninspired shitty cash grabs and play some great AAA multiplayer titles, like splatoon, monster hunter, etc.

The best thing as a gamer you can do is not pre-order, AND do plenty of research. multiple sites of reviews, trailers (gameplay especially), the developers (if it's their first game, are they experienced?).

A lot of factors can tell you about a game. People don't do research at all and wonder why they get outraged (like buying Sekiro purely because it was a Souls-like, but being outraged it wasn't like Dark Souls).

It blows my mind the circle jerk some of you have shitting on the same same 5 games shit releases. Yes they had bad releases and that sucks now that we all agree let’s move on please

JoshTheKid7 OP t1_iuj3g9f wrote

I haven’t bought a Triple A title BECAUSE of these releases, I gave battlefield 2042 a chance hoping for a change, was burned again, refunded, and have exclusively played small developer, indie games, or quit playing all together because of these massive failures.

The industry hasn’t changed after these releases, therefore the examples are still relevant.

Tsndumbass t1_iuj3uo3 wrote

I agree the industry has issues but pointing at the same five titles over and over is like crying over your ex move on or your just hurting yourself

JoshTheKid7 OP t1_iuj4q6u wrote

Those are the titles people recognize most, using more niche devs wouldn’t connect with people. I would even add Imperator Rome as a failed release. There are plenty examples of lowered quality in video games. Watch dogs, the division, it goes on. Complaining about it, and not buying, is the only way it might change.

With COD moving to a $70 price tag, games better improve or I just won’t play new releases anymore

Like I said man you sound exactly like a scorned lover making a ton of excuses why you’re in the right. Monster hunter, Pokémon, r6, Lost ark, elden ring, xenoblade and a long list of aaa titles have all had successful launches but you wanna talk about Anthem from 19 come on man

1

JoshTheKid7 OP t1_iuj732z wrote

I don’t get that comparison tho, people spend money on these games? I enjoy some of the new games, like Elden ring, just recently beat the elden beast actually

R6 came out in 2015, Pokémon is a decades old franchise from a quality developer, and monster hunter is a few years old now, so your examples of good games are all years old too

So using an example from 2019 is not ridiculous, a few gold pieces in piles of shit doesn’t excuse the garbage these devs pump out

1

Tsndumbass t1_iuj7smg wrote

A new r6 game came out this year, just wasn’t fun. You say pokemons an old franchise so doesn’t count but you’re naming old games. All the games I listed came out this year or got an expansion.

You’re doing exactly what you say I am which tells me you’re just mad and no point in discussing. The few five games to ten games you, and every other dude stroking their AAA is bad cock, use are the few in the sea of many not the other way around like you put forward

I all but stopped playing multi-player games. I work a full time job as a chef so I don't have time to 'git gud' and I'm tired of racist 12 year Olds telling me they fucked my mom

This is why a lot of gamers (including myself) are back playing the classics. Now if only 2142 had a good multiplayer server (even a shard) I'd be all over that.

All-Seeing_Hands t1_iufijc4 wrote

I gave up on trying to run it on Win10. LAN parties on that Battlefield and earlier were the best I've ever had.

2

WarfaceTactical t1_iufiyjk wrote

I think it was the best because it was the most balanced (asymmetrically) out of all the Battlefield series. The battles were epic, especially when you had a three-tiered battle, one on the ground, one in the skies, and one about the Titans. I would loooove for another multiplayer server to appear. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

JoshTheKid7 OP t1_iufgwnr wrote

Another reason I love steam, so many classics available to play.

1

WarfaceTactical t1_iufhau8 wrote

As far as I know 2142 isn't available there =(

But... I am going to play Dark Age of Camelot on Eden (a freeshard, not the official server). I won't touch Dark Age of Camelot Live though. Dark Age of Camelot (or DAOC for short) is THE best PvP MMORPG literally ever.

Don't care about the downvotes.

I backed, play and keep backing the Star Citizen project for that reason. So sick of AAA titles being regurgitations.

I know it's taking ages. I know some people feel ripped off. I'm fine with the game so far and like them pushing the boundaries.

I'm not saying "come and check the game". I'm just saying, look around. There are some groups trying to break the mould in different ways. Good luck. I hope you find something that brings back the gaming spark for you.

Nah. I backed the project knowing the likely length. I have fun with it and find it interesting to watch it progress. Not something everyone enjoys, which is why I added the caveat in the original post. I'm perfectly happy with it.
