These are almost certainly fake.

The stickers are too small for the casing, the casings are the wrong color for these games, the Japanese doesn't match the official stickers' Japanese, the official cartridges didn't have that comic book text bubble in the bottom corner, and they have no serial number in the top corner.

Your post may have been taken down because they don't want fakes being advertised. Edit, acrually that's probably not why or they would have just said so

That is not the reason they gave. I posted what they said in response to someone else. They are playable if that matters, but you are probably right. I never noticed that about the stickers.

They are absolutely right, I came to post the same thing.

Well three people have told me so now. It is undeniable. Oh well. At least now I know.

Japanese games are exceedingly common and very easy to import.

The loose carts are trending at like $25 for Silver and $15 for Gold.

Oh well. I got them with a game boy a decade ago at an auction so I was curious. Thanks for the answer.

What reason did they have for removing it?

yertlah OP t1_iuhx3pv wrote

This is what they said:

“Thank you for posting to r/pokemon! We're glad to have you here, but unfortunately we've had to remove this post per our rule on Objective Questions. This rule is in place per feedback we've received from the community because objective questions tend to fill the topic listing and often leave little room for further discussion once the question has been answered.

We do have a Weekly Questions Thread dedicated to seeking answers for questions like yours, though! A lot of knowledgeable Pokémon fans frequent that thread, so please consider posting your question there if you're still looking for an answer, and you may get a detailed answer even faster than you would have here! You also don't need to worry about a minimum word count in that thread.”

Objective questions, huh... that's so vague, space and time seem like 1+1.

Yep

And how am I supposed to ask my question on the comment thread when I need the picture to ask it? It was ridiculous.

Guaranteed fakes.

GBC game carts were a dark translucent plastic, and those stickers are way off alignment.

yertlah OP t1_iui1gi4 wrote

Good to know. Oh well I only paid $15 for them and an old game boy years ago.

Were the Japanese gold/silver carts not glittery gold and silver, as the EU and (presumably9 US ones?

Fakes

Also Japanese games tend to not be super valuable; they have a much larger resale market.

I have Valkyrie Profile, both it’s US and JAP formats. The Japanese format was like $30 (shipping included)… the average price for the US one currently sits at like ~$350.

The only game that is absurdly expensive that I have been interested in a Japanese format (because it only exists in Japan) is Serial Experiments Lain… shit is absurdly expensive!

Those appear to be period correct bootlegs. Not valuable, but certainly interesting.

I’m satisfied with worthless but mildly interesting.
