Consumers should be in the position of power.

The best the gaming industry got was when purchasing was truly optional. Well conceived and made games flourish and bad money grabs flounder. The grip big companies get on consumers is how an industry regresses. The more accessible it is the more quality is rewarded.

I think majority of people will still purchase the game so I don't think it's an awful thing.

I think more games should have demos before purchasing because there's a lot of games that look like they should be really good (Arkham Knights, Saints Row) that turned out meh. Demos would prevent people wasting money but emulation is another form of that.

I feel if I enjoyed a game enough I'd buy it to support the devs.

This is a fallacy called hypothesis contrary to fact.

Did they stop making game of thrones? No.

Have they stopped making games? No.

Why would this pattern dramatically change in your hypothetical worry? It’s a huge and ludicrous jump.

99% of "day one" emulation is piracy. Pirating new games makes you a piece of shit, end of story.

If you rip the game yourself, no one cares. The vast majority of people do not rip their emulated games from their own media, especially when it comes to Switch emulation.

Personally as long as they actually buy the game since it's still commercially accessible I have no qualms
