Been looking for a new game to get into and the Witcher 3 is on sale for $8 on Xbox and I’m gonna pick it up. I play on a Series X so the update will most certainly improve it, but I know if I buy it I’ll be tempted to jump in now. I’ve never played it, know nothing about it other than it’s amazing. Would you wait to play until the update on Dec. 14th or start a play through now? Just wanted someone else’s thoughts!

Why would you? If you've waited this long already...

I'd start it now and play through it a bit, that way when the update hits, you'll really see the difference it makes. Otherwise, you're not even really gonna know or appreciate the difference.

Start the play through now. It’s basically just updated graphics so not much is going to change. They are adding in a few extra quests so nothing major is changing. Plus you’ll get to see the glow up of this amazing game.

I watched a stream yesterday where the devs talked about the quality of life additions and other improvements besides just the looks. I’d definitely wait the 2 weeks. Maybe if it was a Fallout 4 situation where you know the update is coming but not when and definitely not in 2 weeks lol.

Edit: also for $10 you can get the complete edition with all the DLC. I bought it as well and not touching till the 14th.

It runs at 4k60fps on the series x already. So enjoy for an hour or two. You wont beat it before the update.

I’d say just wait for the update, it’s not too long away. The graphics are still realy good either way

Actually season 2 kinda finishes to where Witcher 3 game might be starting. Show doesnt really follow game or book events but it's close enough you will see. As longest you know who is who and what is happening.

Anime prequal is about Geralt master and mentor he is in the game and plays big role.

The show is adapting the books, but the showrunner changed many things (basically all season 2).

The games happen after the end of the books. If you really want to get into the lore, read the books, but there are plenty of youtube videos that'll do the job.

You can even jump into the Witcher 3 not knowing anything about the world. The story is self contained and you get enough infos by reading the descriptions of characters and events ingame.
