are the down votes people that don't advise buying the game or do but hate that I don't share their opinion of the gameplay, I don't actually care either way but I am curious.

The latter. And people who can't accept a differing opinion. Honestly, the melee in HZD is pretty bad, but the ranged combat is fun. It's a lot better with a mouse, you aren't stuck with shitty controller rotation speeds.
