I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, and I still enjoy playing them. I can put in an 8+ hour gaming session easily, but whenever my friends get off, I find myself staring at my steam library not knowing what to play.

It's not like I play games that require friends, I'm grinding camos on MW2, but I can't keep playing when my friend gets off - I feel unmotivated.

I have bought so many single-player games that I have - or had genuine interest in and if I'm not in a call with a friend, I really struggle to play any single-player game as well.

Maybe you're not setting aside enough time for yourself. You can only experience a story for the 1st time once, but multiplayer with friends can be done without limit, making it a guilt free activity. Perhaps leaning on multiplayer so much indicates you're having trouble committing to playing a single-player story for fear that it's not the right time, or there won't be enough time to finish.

At least, that's a problem I have. Something that I do with anime is I set aside a specific time every week to watch it, which is always Sat night/Sun morning. I look forward to it every week.

I live in a different timezone to my all friends and I work, whenever I get on its usually specifically to play with them as they've asked me to get on and when I get off its late at night. It sounds ridiculous but I do feel I dont have "enough time" to play single player games and that I'm "overwhelmed" by multiplayer games, but I can't even play mulitplayer games by myself. I feel uncomfortable, almost scared of opening a game.

Because those mp games are made to be easy to get into. Single player games require some sort of commitment/effort.

The reasoning can be based on many factors like say maybe those games mentioned above conditioned you to have a shorter 'attention span' or maybe you're just tired and really want to take a break or maybe you'd prefer something like a steam deck to play on the bed/couch.

in the end just start the game and 'take the first step' which is the hardest as the saying goes and applies to pretty much everything. Once you start it's likely you'll be immersed again.

I have the same issues with shows, Im almost scared of starting something but when I start it, I usually love it.

I'm a huge fan of story games but recently I just feel so unmotivated to play anything by myself.

I think I'm worried I don't have the time, most of my friends dont have jobs so when I get home they're usually spamming me to get on and I feel like I'm almost obligated to get on FOR them, not for myself.
